GameMaster 02-21-2002 09:01 PM

They're very disappointing

fingersman 02-21-2002 09:26 PM

Well if these are real pic I don't think MArio sunshine will be out in the summer...but that's just me. I think it will come out in November. :D

Why would those Mario screen shots be fake?

A new batch of screens were uncovered, together...Period!
Why would they have authentic screen of other games, but fake ones of Mario?

They are ugly screens! That doesn't mean they are fake...just ugly.

In any event. I really want to know why we are even allowing ourselves to get all worked up about them. You shouldn't allow them to contaminate your outlook on Mario Sunshine.

I just came to remind you of some few things. I'm a little surprised that crap like this turned out to be such a deal. I expect that from IGN boards, not you guys.
---------------------------

You've already seen extended video of Mario Sunshine in motion. That wasn't some odd tech-demo, that wasn't FMV, it was actual footage of gameplay. Don't expect the final game to look of any less quality than that. Feel free to quote me in the future.

Even that particular video represented an early form. Things are only going to improve. That was clear by the bland textures and the sub-par water effects, both of which were far inferior to Nintendo's own game, Pikmin(which was essentially a 'launch' game).

That Spaceworld video indicates what will be the next chapter in the world's best platformer. Please don't let some pic of extremely early work discourage you or even leave you doubtful(cause that most likely what those pics are). You've already witness an impressive--although unpolished--implication of what's to come. You've already seen it in it's most genuine form.

Remember that!

PS: I don't think any of you have implied it, but I'd hate to think that you might actually believe the next true Mario game would look like a graphical port of the N64 version. I saw some posts along those lines at IGN, but I didn't care to intervene because I know those guys are all have brain- tumors.

GameMaster 02-22-2002 03:20 AM

Yeah, he's right! Let's not convince ourselves that things are happening that really aren't.

True! Thanks man! :D

I have to agree with Dreal. Why get all worked up for early, low-res pics that don't show the true look of the game? The final version will look very good I'm sure.

That's what everybody at the IGN boards said BUT...

The game was in-development for the N64. Maybe Nintendo just ported it to the GCN hardware and now is remaking the textures, graphics engine etc.

EDIT: The game was orginaly being made for the N64 and somewhere after devloping it for 2 years it was decided to bring it to the GCN.

I think Mario progressed rather nicely to be a Nintendo game

DeathsHand 02-22-2002 11:33 AM

lol

Although to be fair, the Spaceworld 2K version was just a tech demo, and the new zelda looks that way just because of the style of graphics they picked... *cough*...

:D

BigJustinW 02-22-2002 11:38 AM

I thought there were rumors about Mario becoming toon shaded... maybe it came true :D

azazela31 02-22-2002 03:18 PM

Big J shut up!!

You starting to scare me dammit.

After looking at the pic of link from spaceworld and chibi link I'm stratig to freak out.

Anyway I want Mario cell-shaded. Jet Grind Radio was amazing and these titles have an equal potential.
