But you can get excited about Xbox and Ps2 games then no problem :sneaky:

I think he's way off, here's my explanation:

Nintendo's big december announcement is the purchase of Capcom (maybe namco, too)

The reason nintendo made the adapter fit the cube like that is so all the little kiddies with the GBA would have to buy a cube to play their games on their big tv. i think it's just another way of pushing the gamecube. (why would nintendo try to do that if you can already buy a third party one for 70 bux?) well cause that third party one is 70 bux, and nintendo didn't know anyone would make that way back when this idea was thought of.

But the real question is, why would nintendo make a boot disk? It probably is the only way to get the job done, that all folks..

by the way, i still love nintendo, and i love metroid.

TheGame 11-20-2002 02:49 PM

I agree Crash, whenever new hardware is put on a system it needs a boot disk (of some sort)

Yeah, the network adapter didn't need one, but PSO served as one. While this GBA add on would need some type of disk to serve as boot-up disk. (I mean, you couldn't use a GBA cart to tell the hardware it's installed if the hardware doesn't even know it's there yet.

Nintendo purchasing Capcom and Namco? Err...

Dyne 11-20-2002 03:26 PM

Firstly, the purchase of Capcom or Namco would do more damage, wouldn't it? The other companies would get jealous. Plus, it's just not Nintendo's style like me and a million others have been saying all along.

Though it would be sweet. =D

BTW, there WAS an announced boot disc for the Gameboy Player... You need it. Go read that article again..

Then maybe you should listen to the fanboys? Then again maybe not.

Sigh

This is what I've been noticing since GC was launched. But anyways, if I have to prove a point at the expense of being called a fanboy, then so be it.

Who said there wasn't an announcement for it? Also, who said that we wouldn't need to use it?

Erm, I doubt the purchase of Capcom/Namco would result in GameCubes flying off of shelves worldwide. The 'casual' gamer probably wouldn't know about the news. Then again, the games they release exclusively would result in more people buying the cube.

If it's both (which I doubt it's either) it would boost GCN's sales a LOT. Nintendo would preety much own the fighting game genre.... cept for virtual fighter and DOA, which are exclusives to other platforms.

Crash 11-20-2002 05:15 PM

sure, I think the only thing that would make cube go flying off the shelves is if nitnendo released and online mario kart with worldwide rankings.

but in the grand scheme of things, nintendo owning the rights to megaman, street fighter, soul caliber, RE, Tekken, etc, would be cool... and just think, pacman, exclusive on GC

i think it would be good for nintendo. what they really need to do is release more mature titles.... and it is my opinion that third party games are good, but not as good as first party... i think the only third party game that is doing really good is madden...

Perfect Stu 11-20-2002 06:35 PM

dear god Nintendo...whatever you do, don't buy Capcom...

If you want to sell systems, buy Konami...you'd get some great franchises, with the big seller (also one of the biggest selling franchises in gaming) being METAL GEAR SOLID

If they buy Capcom, they get what? RE series exclusive? They already have that...Megaman? That series has been a huge system seller lately, hasn't it? Street Fighter? BOF from what I hear is top quality RPG gaming, but do the games sell in the millions? (Not sure)

But whatever...it's not my money...besides the load of cash they'd be getting from me as a consumer from buying the system, peripherals, and tons of games if they were to buy, say, Konami...and I wonder how many Playstation and Playstation 2 owners (HUUUUUUGE MGS fans) would pick up a Gamecube if its marquee title was Metal Gear Solid 3?

Just a thought.

Every fighting game fan knows that DOA is not all it's cracked up to be. That game has so many holes in it's fighting engine it isn't funny.

Yeh I still don't think it'd greatly increase GCN sales. What Nintendo needs is Squaresoft games. Those FF games sell so much! When FF Chronicle Crystal thingamagicbob comes out, I'd be interested to see how many copies it sells.

Speaking of Virtua Fighter 4, did you end up buying that? I remember you were thinking about it loooooong time ago. It is such a good game, unfortunately there ain't enough people playing it to boost its sales.

No, because anything that isnt FF is overshadowed by FF, because its so damn popular, and overrated.

From what I've played, the BoF series is very good (BoF3 is ranked as my 3rd fav. game of all time) and I cant wait for BoF5 on Ps2.

Even if the BoF series was on GCN, it wouldnt sell near a million copies, it probably would in Japan, but not here.
