You completely missed the meaning of the picture. YOU GOT FLAMED.

I must say, I like NFG. A lot of people say the lead singer's voice is annoying, but i think it fits the band and makes them unique.

Also, it seems to me you guys don't necessarily hate NFG in particular but more punk in general. Or maybe I'm assuming too much.

Oh, and yeah, I would say NFG has just about broken into mainstream.

On a side note, why does everyone like Linkin Park all that much? Besides of course that they are everywhere and sold a bazillion copies of their first album. Not counting the double hits they are getting with the rehash of the same songs on Reanimation.

I don't get why people ask questions like that... err... people who like Linkin Park (me being one of them) like them because uhh... they like them? They like their muzak?

And I didn't buy reanimation... I was going to, but then a majority of the songs seem too rappish and crappish...

I do have their Hybrid Theory EP though, which they released before coming ze mainstream... has 6 totally different songs than on the regular Hybrid Theory album...

And the band says that the biggest reason they did reanimation was to y'know get experience working with other artists (cuz if ya don't know, most of those remixes were done by other people... they worked with people such as Jonathan Davis of Korn, that guy from staind I think... uhh... and a lot of other people)...

But they're working on an all new album as well, which I think they are gonna try to release sometime early-mid next year or something... Not that you care... :-o

Speaking of bands that rock... The White Stripes... maybe 70% of you have never heard of them....

:sneaky:

Weezer is a great band, and so is White Stripes.

The greatest band of all time, however, is The Who. Any band that has not toured in as many years as them, and then proceeds to head line the Concert for New York and blow away every other act on the show, well, that just speaks for itself.

R.I.P. John Entwhistle and Kieth Moon (greatest rock drummer of all time, including John Bonham)

Sorry. Don't know why I asked that question either. Guess it is a little unfair. Just wanted to try some insight on why everyone thinks Linkin Park rules and NFG sucks. But it doesn't really matter anyways. Music is a personal issue.

As far as reanimation goes, I don't have much of a problem with it. Other than these following points:

1. Did they have to do everysong? Why couldn't they just do a few and release on the internet instead of making the whole cd over again? Or better yet, work with the same artists but do new songs instead of the old ones.

2. Do they have to release the same singles? The originals were better and they've already been played enough. This is ridiculous.

3. The little skipping voice effect they like so much was way overused on the songs I've heard off reanimation.

4. I don't like techno/electronica/whatever-you-call-it.

I like EP's as well. Except for the fact that they're too short. Then again, I guess that's what makes 'em EP's.

I have Hybrid Theory and I like it. Listened to it a ton when i first got it. However, it's has kinda fallen down my list of frequently played disc's now that I hear it everywhere. Not that I'm complaining about popularity. I hate people who do. It's just that I hear it enough without playing my own cd so I don't listen to my own as much anymore. It's not like it's the band's fault for being popular anyways.

I am somewhat looking forward to the new album as well. I don't think I'll buy it immediately since there will be other cd's I want, but if it catches my ear like the first one did, you know I'll have it. So I guess, I do care.

As far as the White Stripes go, personally, I think........

they suck. :p

But then again, that's just me. I usually get leary of any band or genre of music that all the critics start raving about. I don't trust music critics.

Just a quezyon:

Have you heard any of their songs besides like "Fell in Love with a Girl"? Most of their songs are a lot different than that... That's like punkish, whereas most of their songs are like blues rock garage rock magical rocky flocky... stuff...

I didn't even really know critics were raaaaaaving about the white stripes... I just heard a few of their songs and wanted their newest CD, and now I want their older ones but I ain't gotsd no money :-o

Anyways, another question:

What the hell is an EP exactly? Or an LP? I never got that >_<

I can't honestly say I have done much checking into the White Stripes. Which is why i said "personally". Of course, can't say I'm interested either. I crave cds with a good guitar tone and from what I've heard, and read in Guitar World, Jack White's guitar tone is annoying.

BTW: The guitar world thing I read was an interview and one of the quotes was:

"I love it when my guitar is out of tune." - Jack White

Now he may like it, but I don't. Too much midrange to the sound.

As far as the difference between an EP and an LP? I don't exactly know either. It seems however that LP is usually a full-length studio album where as an EP can either be a short studio album or a collection of various demos usually not to exceed 10 tracks.

Anyone out there know the real difference? I'm curious.

DeathsHand 10-01-2002 02:40 PM

Does Jack play with his guitar out of tune on the albums?

I dunno... I like the way the guitar sounds :D

That's just me-o-course, bu'still...

BTW: What the hell is midrange? ;)

I have to agree that music ccritics put far too much emphasis on how polished an album sounds. If a pop or rap album is excellently produced, they rave about it, but God forbid a rock band actually care what they sound like.

Thats whats always frustrated me abount Tool reviews. They are the best modern band today, yet they get trashed in their reviews because they like to pefect their songs and actually have excellent musicianship. I even read one critic who ripped Maynard (lead singer) apart because his voice was TOO GOOD. Tool meticulously crafts their music and evolve with each album (the latest, Lateralus, was completed using mainly 5 and 7 time. Thats just nuts) and get ripped aapart for it.

Just remember, CRITICS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GOOD MUSIC IS. If they did, they would be making it instead of writing about it. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Velvet Underground, The Who and most other revolutionary bands were hated by critics in their time. Pay them no mind

The Germanator 10-01-2002 05:25 PM

The only editors I've ever somewhat respected are the ones at http://www.pitchforkmedia.com I don't agree with everything they say, but more often than not when an album gets a good review there, I buy it and enjoy it. Pretty reliable.

Don't really know how he played it on the albums. However, since it would seem he doesn't care a whole lot about tuning, he may not know either.

Midrange as in the Mids on a three-band E.Q. (Bass, Mids, Treble)

jeepnut 10-02-2002 10:07 AM

Since I'm having so much fun with this, here are some bands I like. Let's see what you guys think.

Five Iron Frenzy

Project 86

MXPX

Ace Troubleshooter

Jimmy Eat World

Finger Eleven

If you don't know who one of them is, just go to their website. I think all of them have at least one song up for samplin'. Five Iron Frenzy I think has their entire catalog. :D

EDIT: Links added for those too lazy to use a search engine. Just click the name of the band.:D

Dragon-Fly 10-02-2002 06:45 PM

Darkmaster your right on only two things, that Blink 182 and Weezer suck

Dragon-Fly 10-02-2002 06:51 PM

Well, Jeepnut, your right that Nfg are a great band, and maybe it's true, that most people just don't like punk. But Jordan's voice(Singer of NFG), isn't annoying, i'll have to disagree with you on that, even that you said, you only heard.

Note To JamesDark: *nod head* James are you scared to say that you like them to (NFG), just because ther's a lot of People here that don't like them beacuse of (whatsoever). Because you do like them, your just shy or scared to say it. And come on WEEZER better than NFG? I don't think so, i heard Weezer's songs, most of what i heard from them, it's like the singer has no voice, or he has a frog in his throat.

JamesDark 10-03-2002 04:23 PM

I do like them, and I like Weezer, too. I'm just not going crazy over them and trying to convert people to NFG like you are. To each their own, I guess.
