Anyway, I fixed some things, but have one more problem now. 1. The Network problem (Sort of) Solved. When I had the problem there were only two PC's on the network, this XP PC and another pretty old one that has always given us problems. We took out the old piece and put in the very good PC (which I gave to my parents) I had before I built this new one, and for some reason my XP computer has no problem networking to that PC and reading and writing to it's hard disk. So as far as we're concerned here, it's solved because we don't care about that old PC much anyway. 2. The LED problem Solved. Which I already talked about. NEW PROBLEM 3. The CD-ROM Not Recognized problem Unsolved. Before my computer was reading all the drives just fine. I have a hard drive (master) and CD-RW (slave) on the primary IDE port and the regular CD-ROM (master) on the secondary IDE port. For some reason XP isn't recognizing the regular CD-ROM. This problem happened after I installed some stuff from an installation disc that came with the motherboard. Hmm, now that I look it has some software for the IDE ports. I'm going to try uninstalling that and see if it works. BRB...... EDIT Ok, I uninstalled that software and it fixed it. But now the PC automatically gives the regular CD-ROM the letter E and the CD-RW the letter D. Should that be something to worry about? db |

Just use the admin account for instaling software and stuff. Use a user account with user level priveliges for browsing, email, games etc. Admin priveliges are too powerful if a hacker or virus gets hold of them. |
