"What did you get? A Playstation Four? Oh wow... I only have an Xbox One."

But yeah, what they offer looks good... but I won't miss this in the coming 10 years. To me it looks like they're trying to pioneer this interactive TV thing... and I'm not sure it will pay off for them.
By the way, I didn't finish the conference so... does this thing still play games? Or is it just about TV now?

I think they're trying to play off the "all in one" thing. But yeah, not crazy about the name either.

It's been so long I think we've all forgotten that console launches usually kind of suck. XD

This is an especially interesting scenario though. The current generation probably has more market saturation than any before it. In addition, people's disposable income is more spread out among technology than it's ever been. During the last console cycle people weren't budgeting a few $100 a year towards a smart phone.

So basically console makers are asking game publishers to take a huge risk here: go from a heavily saturated market to a brand new one where people have less money to go around.

I don't think the sluggish start of the Wii U is going to be unique.

I think most people have said that

But were brushed off for.. well Nintendo lacking compelling software at launch.. which is true.

I think two launching side by side will also be curious to watch

Did they confirm a launch date? How close is it to the PS4's?

Neither have given a launch date yet.

They haven't given a date, but both have said end of the year.. which isn't a WIDE area to avoid each other.

Personally I wasn't impressed with either.

Also it's gotten to the point where I rarely ever want to play anything on either console and PC just has everything I play anyway. I will probably just upgrade or build a new PC at the end of the year. I feel like that's a better way to spend my cash at this point.

PC and 3DS are definitely my most used systems at this point, but there are some console exclusive games I like being able to play, like first party Nintendo stuff and some things on the Playstation like Uncharted and jRPG's.

But with a PC, games are on average much cheaper so you save money in the long run, and you can get an HDMI cable, hook your PC up to your TV, plug in a 360 controller, and play games on your couch if you want.

I actually bought a long HDMI cable that I ran from my PC to my TV, so it's super easy to switch.

I was thinking of going PC/Wii U next gen myself as well. But going to wait until e3 to see what everyone is offering me

Are there any resolution issues connecting your PC to TV?

Nah, my monitor and TV both run at 1080.

Re: Next Xbox to be Revealed May 21st

Would there be an issue if the TV runs at a higher resolution than the PC? I may do this ...

You're TV is higher than 1080?

It really just depends on what your graphics card can output, but at worst it would just show the highest resolution possible.

The console is dead (and has been for a bit). Welcome to the era of the "family entertainment system" where games are just one service among many.

Though the gaming feature will likely make or break the system sales wise. The more I think about it, it makes me wonder why they even bother too add all of the other BS. I hope all that Kinnect and voice activated crap for the Xbox One is an optional add on and they still sell a core gaming system

I don't necessarily mind that
I use my consoles as Netflix/movie players as it is.
And don't mind the functions MS announced.. even though not sure who it is targeting.

I just felt was an odd way to debut the console because this is what folks associate it with now.

Who knows in 2 weeks can blow us away with amazing games.

The Kinect is mandatory.. it's even mandatory for you to turn on the console I believe.
