Heck yeah. I think this is the only Wii game I'm buying this season, though. Hmmm.

Also a price drop in the great white north

Key Software Releases Further Demonstrate System’s Incomparable Value

VANCOUVER, BC., Sept. 23, 2009 – Beginning Sunday, Sept. 27, the world’s most popular home video game system gets even more appealing. On that day, Nintendo’s suggested retail price for its record-setting Wii™ drops by $60 to $219.95. The new $219.95 Wii price point delivers the full iconic Wii gaming experience, including the motion-sensing Wii Remote™ controller, Nunchuk™ controller and Wii Sports™ software, and furthers Nintendo’s mission to expand the gaming universe by making video games accessible to more and more consumers.

The UK gets a new SKU, including Wii Sports Resort and WM+. And the original Wii Sports. For the original launch price, which is pretty sweet considering the inflation.

Yeah, I think that was the same with Gamecube too.

Even after lopping $50 off, Nintendo is still very likely to take in a hefty profit on every Wii system sold. In early 2008, Forbes reported that the Big N made $6 on every Wii released to the wild. Earlier this year, analyst Koya Tabata of firm Credit Suisse said that since that time the cost to produce Nintendo's videogame platform had fallen by more than 45 percent.

So if I do my math right, they were making $6 off the presumably $250 package, which puts Nintendo's cost at $244 in 2008. If N's cost dropped 45%, that means it now costs them $134.20 to make. That means even at the new price point, they're raking in the dough. Everytime they sell a million consoles even if their costs never drop again, they make $65.8 million. That's a ridiculous amount of money.

Yeah that is pretty insane. If the numbers all match up though. I'm not saying your math it wrong because it looks solid but who knows what other factors are thrown in there.

Nintendo as far as I know has never lost money on their consoles.
I mean unlike Sony and MS they don't have other departments to keep them afloat.

Anyhow, no one is jumping on, but I guess would be cool for current Wii owners, apparently Amazon will be having some deals on key Wii games to celebrate the price drop launch (?)

That's a nice deal. I hope we get it in the EU.

Then again, if Zelda comes bundled with a WM+, I'll have too many of them...

Probably should go to bed, but alas

If you buy a Wii at Amazon, you get a 25 dollar gift card, which is a nice deal.

But they also seem to have cut some prices.
Wii Play, Smash Bros Brawl, Galaxy, Mario Kart are all 40 bucks.
Excitebots with Wheel is 20
New Play Control Pikmin, Jungle Beat and Mario Tennis are 20 each.
WMP and Classic Controller are 17.

BaB to Nintendo's rescue!

I hold firm that the Wii is nothing more than a machine designed to make it expensive for me to play Smash Bros.
