I loved the movie. I have read some negative reviews that say it is does not have a moral base (as did Borat) for all the jokes, therefore the jokes fall flat or are just plain mean. I disagree. I think that "racism is bad" is more accepted by far more people than homosexuality and overt sexual images are. Thus the controversy.

I have heard many people are seeking refunds. I wonder if that's true. I have also heard the tickets grosses from Friday to Saturday dropped by half.

I wouldn't say it lacked a moral base, if anything it was a tad bit predictable. I mean are we supposed to be surprised that redneck hunters hate gays or a priest who converts gay people hates gays? I thought Borat was more innocent and genuine in its intentions to showcase people's ignorance.

It wouldn't surprise me if people are seeking refunds though. People were groaning during all the nudity parts (mostly the spinning, talking penis part). I thought it was hilarious. I still don't understand why this country is OK with seeing tits on screen but a penis is taboo. Is it really like that Seinfeld episode? A woman's body is beautiful to look at but a male body is utilitarian...it's like a Jeep.

I've heard other complaints that Bruno should have received a harsher rating than R. The swinger scene, in particular, was criticized although it had fucking black censor boxes! Here's humor for you. No one in this country complained about Transformers 2 which came out a week ago and is full of needless violence, but a movie with sex (something natural) is criticized.

Why is sex so dirty in this country? Why is porn made to be dirty? Something something western culture and capitalism.

I just saw it last night. I had a lot of hearty laughs, but I'll agree that it didn't quite have the same appeal as Borat. A lot of the general gags were the same and as KG said, many of the reactions were predictable.

The parts with the parents who were selling out their babies for the photo shoot was both sad and hilarious. Anyway, still funnier than a lot of comedies I've seen in the past.

I think the women in the Middle East would disagree with that assessment... I think religion has more to do with it. The more secular a society is the more comfortable they are with their own shame.

Me? I like my sex dirty and verboten. Makes it exciting. :D
