Re: Forza 2: Funny or not?
The Clayton Bigsby skit is hilarious.

Re: Forza 2: Funny or not?
the difference between acceptable comedic racism, and not acceptable comedic racism, all rides on if the maker of the joke isn't white.
So I've decided to cut that middleman out of the operation, and just focus in on the humour factor of what is being offered at any specific time. If I laugh at it - it thusly becomes funny. |

This isn't comedic racism, it's simply racism. It's designed to be offensive, and the only purpose it serves is to be offensive. The only thing that is funny is when he gets banned from Live. |

How can you tell it's meant to be offensive? Can you travel through the wires, into his mind to find his motives? To say it's simply racism when you don't know why he made it, who made it, or any of the like, seems a little hasty to me. I think the purpose it serves is not only a shock value of "lol", but to show how easily someone can take advantage of the customize option. So right there, it appears that the only purpose it serves, is in fact - not to be offensive. |

The only real fact here is that this thing will offend people. And there's nothing more to make of it.. This car is the only impression anyone here can have of the guy. Its like meeting someone for the first time and the first words to come out when he shakes your hand is, "Well, I'm glad you aren't a ni**er. Hahahaha!". What's the first thing you are going to think about the guy? His intention may have been to be funny, but that's clearly offensive. If you find the car to be funny that's your opinion, but common sense should tell you that what makes it funny in the first place is the fact that it is offensive. He made it that way to get attention. Kinda like Chapelle. There are tons of offensive jokes out there... It seems like you're taking it as if something can't be both funny and offensive at the same time.. like they're two different extremes. Tons of people are offended by Dave Chapelle, but that doesn't mean the same people can't laugh about it. Just because something is meant to be (or is) funny doesn't mean its not meant to be (or isn't) offensive. You can find this car to be funny all you want, but if you keep denying the fact that its offensive.. Nobody's going to agree with you. There is tons of ways he could have taken advantage of the customization and been funny without being offensive.. but he chose going the route of being offensive to get attention. And that's exactly what he got. You can say his intentions were to be funny all you like, but his method of trying to be funny is clearly offensive. Period. |

I also read what Bond said: Quote:

Re: Forza 2: Funny or not?
Of course he said that. So would the grand wizard of the KKK.

Re: Forza 2: Funny or not?
Ty, you kinda missed the point buddy.. He intended for it to be a joke, and what was funny about it was its offensiveness. He probably didn't want people to bug out about it, but that doesn't change the fact that its offensive. Now you can defend the guy's character all you want, but it doesn't change what he did.

If it's meant to be shockingly funny, it pretty much has to be offensive - or else it's not shocking. I didn't miss your point at all. I was just saying yes, it's offensive, but it's a light-hearted offensive. Sure it's bad, but it's comedy - a fine line of comedy - but comedy nonetheless. |
