In a business sense, Nintendo needed something BIG to launch for the Wii and Mario, even though popular, wouldn't have done it. Zelda with the "Realistic graphics" is what will push Wii sales alot more.

But as said, Nintendo's business strategy has worked to do this rather then Mario right now. If you think about it.

he means releasing it a year or 2 after launch, which is usually thier time frame for releasing the game in the systems life. not how long it takes them to make it.

and theres no such thing as a bad launch game, you just want as many and as much viarity as you can. its not as if they have 5 or 6 games done and they think about which one would be the best to release... whats done is done and thoes are the launch games.

Well considering the fact that they would probably still be finishing up the Gamecube version even if it wasnt being ported to Wii, im not sure how the Zelda team could be working on a new Wii zelda at the same time to make it come out in a year or 2 after Wii's launch. Im sure Nintendo was working on Wind Waker well before the Gamecube was released, and it sill took over 2 years into the Gamecubes lifespan to get it released.

I guess my point is Nintendo takes their time with Zelda games.
