When a guy online told me that air attacks had downed al-Zarqawi, I thought he meant the guild Air and a difficult boss in some dungeon in WoW. :D

To those that think that this is not a huge deal:

1) Zarqawi is the #1 guy for Al Quaida in Iraq

2) His spiritual advisor and 6 other top officials were also killed. So its not the next guy who will take over... its the next guy to the next guy to the nxt guy to the next guy to the next guy to the next guy to the next guy. I believe thats the Al Quaida stenographer...

3) Zarqawi was considered to be a nut job by even his own people. His own people... the ones who INFORMED US of where he would be. This is a huge change in attitude.

4) If the rumor that the Suni's have reached a deal with the Shiites is true, that means that at least half of the resistance is now on board with the new government.

5) There was dancing in the streets when world of Zarqawi's death reached the news, and it was celebrated by most arab news sources.

6) The Iraqi police force looked to be very prepared and was actually a big ally in this operation, which is a nice change.

All of this severely damages Al Quaida and their influence. This could be a tipping point in the formation of a free, democratic and SUCCESSFUL Iraq. We'll half to wait and see, but I'm starting to become optimistic.

As for being happy that he is dead... I'm glad he received justice and that his reign of bloody terror against our troops and his own people is over. I would have rather he went to trial and lived out his life in prison avoiding Big Luther and his thunder cock, but I'll take him getting torn to shreds with two 500 lb bombs as a close second.

I personally don't care. Because he didn't affect my life. Its a big deal for the Government and whatnot but he didn't affect my life personally so I'm not caring much about it.

I'm more excited by the cooperation of Suni's and Shiites than by the killing of that guy. Even thoguh he definently deserved to die. Isn't he the one who cut that persons head off in the video that got sent out everywhere?

Pretty sure after he is dead, he will be replaced. There will be a new number 1.

I have no doubt that he will be replaced by someone, but will that someone be as experienced as Zarqawi and his top aids? Will that someone be as ruthless/sadistic/evil? Will that someone be competant?

These are all unknowns, and lean heavily towards "unlikely". This makes Zarqawi's death a huge victory no matter how you slice it. A victory, not the final victory. Final victory against these extremists and terror may be decades away, but every nutjob crazy-ass killer dead is good for our side. By our side, I mean the side of GOOD.
