Cons:
-Get pwned by ninjas IF your a guard
-You can die
-You can't go see a geisha whenever you want
-you have to sleep on thin mats with a dozen others in the room...

Additional:

Pros: You can freaking cut peoples heads off if you think your sword feels like it!

And Geisha are the non-consenting ones. Samurai were allowed Escorts whenever they wanted (women or little boys) and paid in Koku, units of rice.

For me:

modern pirates > modern ninjas
swashbuckling pirates < feudal ninjas

Eh, I dunno. Rouge ninja who becomes a pirate. There we go.
