Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
i find FF to be more stable than IE as well.
and the only problem i had with so far is that some download links will give me a page full of script or something. |
Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
thats another MIME settings problem. When file types dont have a browser plugin mime set to it, it will just decode the whole file as ASCII info
|
Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
some files are .exe or .zip files that i want to download, like Drivers

Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
May help on popup blocking: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/archives/007903.html
Asa's blog is one I drop by often. as for the gibberish on page and when trying to download ..etc.. well that is because the server is serving with the wrong Mime type.. like for example "text/plain" instead of what it should be "text/html" Firefox 1.0.3 is coming soon once they get a few things ironed out as there is an issue like one Bugzilla patch that may break a number of extensions. The 1.0.3 does have a fix where it can remove the old entries of Firefox in Add/Remove because people do not know better to uninstall old version before installing new version in same place. http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/archives/007905.html For those of you who use Firefox on Windows, the .zip release's of Firefox is not available anymore since the 1.0.2 release as there is a huge problem due to people installing the .zip 1.0.1 and then getting a upgrade peompt for the 1.0.2 installer and then Firefox breaks big time. http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/chase...ing_why_t.html I have not been by much here as I have been spending alot of my free time at mozillaZine forums and as a busy moderator for last 5-6 months. |
Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
Is it normal that it opens the download screen for EVERY SMALL picture I want to save? It's terrible. I just want to save something tiny, then FF freezes for 5 seconds and the download screen shows up (with the download already finished of course).
What do I do about this?:( |
Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
Go to TOOLS > OPTIONS
click on Downloads and check "Show downloads everytime download begins" and check "Close downloads when finished" It should cancel everything out with small files like images. EDIT: Or just uncheck "Show download manager everytime download begins." And when you download a large file and wanna see progress, just hit CTRL+J and it'll come up. |
Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
Thanks, that solved it. For the moment. I never had this problem a few weeks ago. It's just getting slower I think.
And are you sure it's ctrl+J? That gives 'Page Info' here. |
Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
go to TOOLS and look for Downloads Manager, and check the shortcut, it's CTRL+J for me.

Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
Perhaps I should have cleaned up the download manager earlier, it had 100s of downloads. :p
Edit: thanks again |
Re: Firefox, you have let me down.....
An uncleaned download manager is like aging whore. Sure it got you what you wanted but the remnants of your good time are visible for all to see.
