Re: i wonder if anyone is aware of this...

I still don't get all the hate surrounding the prequels. I have, personally, found the prequels to be enjoyable so far. Sure, TPM was aimed far too much towards children, but the action scenes were fun, and I find the political scenes to be very interesting (this is the rise of Palpatine for crying out loud).

AotC is my second/third favorite Star Wars film (it switches with ANH; ANH has better direction, but I have more fun watching AotC so...). Neither the acting nor dialogue was so bad as to kill the film, and you can never go wrong with the Fetts.

I just don't get why everyone seems ot absolutely hate the prequels...

i'm not a big fan of SW at all...i literally fell asleep during Episode one...inside the movie theatre!

although i find the games to be much better. just now i beat SW: KotOR, which is a really good RPG game...and i had fun playing it and going through the story line. i'm thinking maybe if i watch all the movies like they were supposed to be watched, then i would enjoy the entire series...but right now i just don't have that much time on my hands.

Who the hell cares about kids? The less of them I have to see at the movie, the better.

Me sa jar jar binks. Me in da mooovee tooo appeals toooo four year olds.

I'm sorry, but the context in the original 3 star wars movies was girtty, dark and bleak....and even scandelous. Jaba totally made laya[sp] his love slave.

Anyway....episode 1 and 2 were both so G-rated. I mean, what the hell do you need an uber-leet Jedi Alliance for when the Empire is a giant p|ussy?

Think about it: you have the force. You have a mysterious limitless budget to build things like Deathstars and Star Destroyers. Are you going to do G-rated things?

I don't think so.

There better be more force griping, and more force abuse. I mean, damn. Even Han Solo ran off a few swear words.

Personally, I can't stand Episode 1 anymore, and Episode 2 is decent....probably because it doesn't feature a 10 minute long pod racing scene which was an obvious plug for a videogame...

The thing is, Peter Jackson came into the picture 3 years ago, he released 3 movies, all within a shorter time span, and he kicked Star Wars' ass.

The comparison is apt, because the Lord Of The Rings was really the first grand scale book that focused purely on good vs. evil.

Honestly, my expectations for Episode 3 are pretty low. But if making it PG-13 is necessary to convey the Star Wars theme, then I'm all for it.

Yeah, Jar Jar sucks. Yes, Episode I tries to appeal too much to the kids.

Dark and gritty? Ha! Bleak? I could see ESB described as such, but both ANH and RotJ were pretty happy movies. Yeah, Jabba made Leia his love slave. And Boba Fett watched his father get his head sliced off.

AotC, at least, has the "dark" and "bleak," and this thread alone signifies RotS is going have more than the classic trilogy combined. Besides, just because a movie is "dark and gritty" doesn't mean its good.

Huh? First, they were both PG. Second, I agree TPM is a little kiddy, but AotC certainly isn't. Heads and hands sliced off, fathers dying, the slaughter of entire villages. IMO, out of just the classic trilogy and the first two prequels, AotC is the least "G-rated."

And what in God's name are talking about Jedi Alliances and Empires? The Empire isn't even formed yet. Are you talking about the Separatists? They aren't the Empire, and what gave you the impression they were a huge vagina? And the Jedi never had an alliance beyond just theur basic order. Are you talking about the Rebel Alliance? That doesn't exist, either.

What "G-rated" things beyond Jar Jar? What are you talking about?

So, essentially, you just want Vader, right? Except for the Force Lightning in RotJ, he's the only guy in the classic trilogy who used the Dark Side. And what about swear words? So what? Like that makes a movie?

Besides, Dex swears in AotC. And I'm fairly certain only Obi-Wan swore in the classic trilogy. Han gives off a, "I'll see you in hell!" but I'm pretty sure that's it.

The Podrace esablished Anakin's racing abilities. It was cool. If the Podrace was your main complaint against TPM, you have problems.

Peter Jackson worked far longer on the LotR trilogy than three years. He was writing and rewriting and selling the script to studios years before New Line got a hold of it. The only reason the movies were released so quickly was becuase Jackson did it all concurrently. Lucas is doing one movie at a time.

That's ignorant and stupid.

Obviously, considering your need for "dark and bleakness" and non "G-rated" things.

You know, I'm really hoping your trying to be funny in some way, 'cause the only other two alternatives are that you're simply spewing out what people have told you, or you're really stupid.

Either way, s'not good.

I think that making it PG-13 is interesting, but it might have an immidiate boost to sales that most weren't expecting. I think some people (like Gremlin :D) will see that it has PG-13, think that that will make it cooler because it is more violent, and want to see it.

Thats just my opinion, but so many people want to see the bloody movies and the more action packed movies. Now, it might ruin the running of a clean trilogy, but who cares for the sake of money?
