mmm... i LOOOOVE teh christmas!!!! but it's 61 degrees right now, so i'm pissed off...
christmas eve, all of our family comes over to our house and we eat and open some gifts... it's usually me, gangan, my great aunt, and a whole truckload of cousins. that night, after everybody leaves, me and gangan usually open one present each. the next morning we open the rest of them and i play my new video games/listen to my new cds/watch my new dvds/hook up my new electronics until around 3 when i go up north. That evening i eat dinner AGAIN and open MORE presents with my father's side of the family. then i come home and party it up on new year's. lmao |
Re: Christmas
Christmas has a really pleasant atmosphere around it. I love this holiday for the jollyness everywhere, the time off of school, and the gifts :)
For the first time in my life, my mother put up the tree without my help this year...I was surprised and disappointed when I came home from a friends house to see the tree basically done. I took care of the lights on the roof all by myself again. It looks decent. The day of Christmas itself is usually just a few minutes of present opening and then eating some food with the family. Maybe something different will happen this year. |
Re: Christmas
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. On Christmas Eve, we always used to go to my grandparents house, on my mother's side. But she passed away this year, so I think we'll be going to my Mom's brother's house instead, but the same people will be there. I like it, because we don't usually have a really large crowd. Just my family, my two of my cousins families. About 12 people all together. We exchange gifts, and have a big christmas dinner.
Then we come home, and my brother and I go to bed as fast as possible, so we can go to sleep and wake up early the next day. We get up about 5 or 6 in the morning, then, go to my parents room and get them up. Then we open presents, and spend the day enjoying them, then have dinner at my house, just the four of us. We usually go to my Dad's parents house on one of the days around Christmas, but not on Christmas day like we used to. We like spending the actual day of Christmas at home, relaxing. I am also looking forward to the break from school....awesome. |

On Christmas Eve, we went to our church's Christmas Eve service for several years but the past couple of years we've been going out to dinner with my mom's dad and my mom's brother's family. I don't like that because we usually see them only once or twice a year and it's just really akward. Then on Christmas morning we open presents and watch the Christmas parade on TV and my mom cooks breakfast and my grandpa comes over. Then we spend the day playing with our toys. Then for dinner we go to my dad's mom's house and have dinner and present-opening time there. |

I get from Dec 17th to like, January 7th? But yeah, Christmas doesnt have to be about religion. It can be about freinds and family regardless of what you believe. I love it because everyone is generally in a good mood. |
Re: Christmas
Yes, I'm off for a month for Christmas too. I got a huge game backlog to plow through. o_o

Re: Christmas
A Romanian Christmas.
by Valeriu M. Trufin (a.k.a. Quiet Mike) I'm really buissy in the Christmas season. First we have the schools choir concerts in school and in the city. This year we do a live radio concert. Then I am the church choir conductor and so I get the choir ready for the season. During this I see choir members I forgot exist :D It's nice to see them all dressed in somewhat a uniform way. Here in Romania choirs don't wear robes or something like that. Everyone comes as they like. But during Easter and Christmas I ask them to dress alike. The buissiest part starts on Christmas Eve with a 3 hour service 6-9pm. Then we run home dress more casual but more consistent, and gather again at the church (youth 15-30) and start caroling all the new members that came in the church over the current year, as well as the city's more importan people like the maior and the likes. On Christmas day we have services moring and night, with a lot of sleep in between. Then again we meet to go carroling our families; the families of the people in the group. Since we are many we divide in 4-5 groups based on age range and best friendships so we can carrol everyone. The second day of Christmas we have the church services and then at night we go to someones house where we stay the night to discuss play games listen music, watch movies and other group stuff. Each group goes to a different house of course. During all this we eat a lot of home made cookies of all kind. Some really good other unbelivable good, and a few just good :P The carroling starts from about 10pm and ends sometimes at 6am the next day. This is what Christmas is like here in Romania for most... Well you have to add some not so good singing;) and alcohool to non christian carroling groups. Marry Christmas to everyone! :) |
