Wrong combine.
Just watched the new Friday the 13th. It was entertaining in a stupid way, but nothing new. I mean its been awhile since a Friday the 13th and they couldnt come up with many cool kills |
Re: Horror Movie Month (The Evil Dead)
The Exorcist wasn't that great.
Friday the 13th was an interesting movie. The remake not the original. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe, we could finally watch let the right one in. |

-You either believe in God and therefore the events in the Exorcist are true and all the more terrifying -You don't believe (or, in the case of the movie, you don't want to believe), but you want to believe because if you don't believe you realize life is meaningless and when you die you become worm food. The movie is really a battle of believing in Good/Evil or believing in dark eternal eternity. I'd say that's pretty fuckin' scary! Also the movie is loaded with ooey gooey symbolism. The Exorcist has a lot of depth, it's a layered horror film. The movie is surely dated but when you look at all the themes, the news stories in the real word discussing supposed Exorcisms, the Biblical history of Exorcism, and the notion of life after death....well, then the movie really blossoms IMO. Anyway, my suggestion..... http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/para...contentReviews Everybody go out to the theaters and see Paranormal Activity! It is getting rave reviews and looks scary as fook! I plan on seeing it this upcoming week....it's limited release but big cities seem to have it (yay for Chicago!). |

Re: Horror Movie Month (The Evil Dead)
Yeah, I have a suspicion that Paranormal Activity is going to be a huge letdown. I heard so much damn hype about the Blair Witch Project that I was so excited, but I didn't think it was all that good and I kind of see that happening again.
Anyway, kudos to them though. They apparently made that Paranormal Activity for some absurd amount (I think I heard $15,000), so if they even pull in a couple million they've done well minus advertising money. |
Re: Horror Movie Month (The Evil Dead)
The Blair Witch Project wasn't that bad. If you saw it in theaters before all the hype it was a decent faux-umentary. I think Paranormal Activity has way more potential because I believe it is set in a suburb house. It will probably have parallels to a documentary-esque Poltergeist. And Poltergeist scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it. You want to talk about genuinely scary horror, watch Poltergeist. That movie is just scary as hell because it is set in a suburban home and involves your everyday, normal American family.
Which reminds me....BaB should see if there are any links for Poltergeist. With a tagline, "They're here!" you cannot go wrong with this Spielberg piece of genius. |
Re: Horror Movie Month (The Evil Dead)
How about Aliens 1, 2, and 4?
Its the greatest horror trilogy around. |
