Re: Last movies you saw
The Company of Wolves
Most boring movie about werewolves I've seen. |
Re: Last movies you saw
O' Horten. 7/10.
Norwegian art movie about a man who retires from his job as a railroad engineer. Funny, but could/should have been better. Oh, the icy weather was nice. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
Not a good movie. That's a given. But it also wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, which is a shame. Chris Klein's horrible overacting made it worth the watch though. My goodness he was bad. Some other unintentional funny bits as well. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Finally watched Gran Torino last night. I loved it even though it has a big emphasis on Clint being "racially biased" but with the background he has in the film, it makes sense and didn't bother me.

Re: Last movies you saw
Rescue Dawn. 7/10.
I don't usually like war movies, but this was pretty good. It helped that it was based on a real story. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Joe Versus the Volcano
Good existential film. And you get a very pretty Meg Ryan in three different roles as a blond, brunette, and red head. I want some orange soda now. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Love Actually. 7/10.
A decent romantic comedy. Too many characters to go deeper... |
Re: Last movies you saw
Michael Clayton
As good as a Hollywood powerhouse film will ever be. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it. It was paced slow though, so you need to be in the right mood for it. |

Re: Last movies you saw
Miller's Crossing (1990) wow. Can't believe I waited so long to watch this. One of thee best gangster pics I've seen.
So far Coens: The Big Lebowski Miller's Crossing O Brother Where Art Thou No Country For Old Men Fargo Blood Simple Burn After Reading Raising Arizona Barton Fink Intolerable Cruelty The Ladykillers Still need to see The Hudsucker Proxy, Crimewave, and The Man Who Wasn't There. I have a feeling they'll be worth watching as well. I've seen lately, The Producers (Mel Brooks) Simply hilarious. I think I might have liked Young Frankenstein more just because it's Mel Brooks' Frankenstein! The Producers opening scenes are squirmworthy brilliance. dummy (2003) Adrien Brody and Milla Jovovich in an ok funny film. Kinda girl movie. Blood Simple (1984) It was ok for a Coens' film. I think the subject matter just unsettled me to the point of wondering why they couldn't have written a different movie. It's good though. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Planet Terror
s'ok |
Re: Last movies you saw
Gran Tornio
Very good movie but depressing as hell. |
Re: Last movies you saw
The Nines
That was a great mindfuck. And I don't think I'll ever look at koalas the same way again. |
Re: Last movies you saw
S Darko - This just hit cinemas here in the UK, which is bollocks since it came out in the U.S in may or something. Not that I went to the cinema to see it anyway
On the whole I actually thought the film was ok. It would probably not make much sense if you had not seen the first one (Donnie Darko) and I imagine some people would find it hard to follow anyway. I think people slated the film because it is different to it's predecessor but the point is, that this is a unique story in itself, derived from the essence of the first film, I mean, what did people want? A remake? I did think the first film was better though. |

Re: Last movies you saw
Infernal Affairs III
And now the trilogy is complete. Such a confusing movie with the constant flashbacks. There are basically two interwoven stories going on at the same time...at different times. Throw in the fact that one of the main characters is losing his grip on reality thinking he's the guy from the flashback parts and it just gets worse. What made it even more confusing is I think saw the edited version of the first movie, where they changed the ending for mainland China, Malaysia and Singapore to please mainland officials by affirming that crime does not pay by having the baddie gets his comeuppance. The third movie continues along from the original film ending so I was like wasn't he not there...doing that...because they got him...from that other thing? Wish I knew about that edit going into it. Pales in comparison to the first two, but still decent. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Franklyn
I quite enjoyed it. Good directorial debut. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Rewatched Brick, The Simpsons movie and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade yesterday.
All stilll great. Hadn't seen Last Crusade since I was a kid. Ford and Connery make a great father and son team |

Dragnet.
For no reason, I just decided to watch it, as I've never seen it before. And you know what, I actually thought it was pretty funny. Going in, I didn't expect that. I didn't realize how funny of an actor Tom Hanks can actually be. I thought the humour was stupid-funny, ala Airplane!. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Genius Party Beyond
The sequel to Genius Party. A collection of five animated shorts by five different directors. Less story driven than the first one and far more trippier. I imagine this would be a perfect movie to watch high.:) |
Re: Last movies you saw
Go
:D :D :D :D :D Damn, that was a fun movie. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Ice Age 3. :D 8/10, about as good as the original.
And seeing Dinosaurs in 3D was awesome. Give us Jurassic Park 4 3D! Oh, this was also the first (cinema) movie I watched in 3D. I guess it added a bit, but those glasses aren't very comfortable. And I wondered if they were giving me a slight headache. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Swingers
More 90s goodness. That answering machine scene was hard to watch. |
Re: Last movies you saw
The Jacket. Hm I'll give it an 8/10. The story was a bit 'me too!' though.
|
Re: Last movies you saw
Green Lantern: First Flight
Easily the best of the recent animated movies. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Transsiberian. 7/10.
Enjoyable train thriller. |
Re: Last movies you saw
The Warriors - Better than expected
His Girl Friday - cary grant, good but nothing overly hilarious. Not as funny as arsenic and old lace. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Amazingly awesome. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Amazingly awesome, that's interesting.
Is that amazing + awesome? I suppose it's amazing x awesome. Or maybe it's amazing how awesome it is. It doesn't mean that it was amazing, just awesome in an amazing way. Then again, if something isn't awesome at all, that would be pretty amazing as well. "It wasn't awesome, which was amazing! It was amazingly awesome!" |
Re: Last movies you saw
I finally watched There Will Be Blood last night on Blu-Ray no less. Amazing film. Daniel Day Lewis is a cold blooded dude and very good at acting that way. I just really liked the flow and the whole story, very good.

The Usual Suspects. 8/10. Still good, although it's not as great as the first time seeing it. But it deserved a 2nd one.

Re: Last movies you saw
that Ping Pong movie looks good.
The Hudsucker Proxy - Pretty good. 1994 coens. Sexy Beast (2000) Ben Kingsley gangster meanness It was ok. Porco Rosso !! I love this Miyazaki film. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Remember really liking The Hudsucker Proxy. Been a while. Deserves another viewing.
Porco Rosso is the only Miyazaki film I haven't seen...well that and his first one. Time to finally watch! |
Re: Last movies you saw
Finally went to see Up today in the theaters. It was awesome as expected. I can't help but imagine what the little kids in the theater were thinking during that first bit though. There were some pretty heavy emotional things happening there and I wondered whether it registered with them or not. Either way, once again Pixar does well.

Re: Last movies you saw
Public Enemies, finally.
I really loved it - I loved the initial billing because of Bale, Depp and Michael Mann (the Miami Vice guy) but it surpassed my expectations. I dig the digital film he uses, which helps the most in his gunfight sequences. Not to mention that his gunfights are actually convincing as well as cool. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Porco Rosso
Damn that was surprisingly good. Well, I shouldn't have been surprised. It's Miyazaki after all. The concept just never appealed to me which is why it took so long for me to see it. And I love how his baddies usually end up to be very likable characters. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Breakfast At Tiffany's. 7/10.
Nice, but I don't really see what the big fuzz is about. The song is better than the movie. :-) |
Re: Last movies you saw
Billy Wilder's The Apartment > Breakfast at Tiffany's
Made a year earlier, it's got Jack Lemmon. It's better. Recently started watching Jpod. Based on the novel by douglas coupland. Highly recommend if you like things of a Canadian nature. |
