Re: Last movies you saw
The Hangover.
It was actually pretty funny stuff. You should see it if you're looking for a laugh. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Just watched Drag Me To Hell on The Germanator's recommendation. I must agree that it was actually a pretty good film. Definately the best modern Horror movie I have seen in a few years. Nice film to watch just before you go to bed :errr:
*SPOILERS* If I was that bitch though I would have gotten my arse to a church. As for the ending, gutted lady. That's what you get for being a calous bitch in the first place. She should have checked the envelope before she dug the Gipsy up, stupid woman. *END SPOILERS* |

Legend of Drunken Master. Wow. Some amazing fight scenes. And that last one looked painful as hell.

I shall check out Miracles. I think Battle Royale was the first modern Japanese movie I saw. Been a while. There was a sequel too right? Check out Suicide Club for teen violence of a similar vein. Actually I think most of the Japanese movies I've seen are violent to a cartoony extent. Ichi the Killer is awweeessooome. |

The Simpsons Movie. 5/10
Man, that was boring. I was hoping they had saved up the best jokes for like 2 seasons. But this was hardly funny. And I didn't like the way they colored it, too bland. |

Now for Sunday, after watching the Turkish GP I was unable to use the laptop (it's not mine) so I thought, what have I not seen yet? So today I watched all the Harry Potter's back to back. That'll save me some reading. My favourite scene from the five movies? When Hermiony punches Malfoy in the face. It was about time, if I was Harry I would have kicked the shit out of him on day one  I want the next HP now. |
Re: Last movies you saw
36th Chamber of Shaolin
I really like when most of the movie is the training. Good stuff. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Just watched 21. The film that came out last year with Kevin Spacey in thats about card counting in blackjack. I thought it was pretty good, well worth a watch if you have not seen it. I would also say if you like it you should check out another film I like that it reminded me of - Boiler Room.

Re: Last movies you saw
I watched The Hangover....the laughs kept coming, but it helped that I was in a packed theater.
|
Re: Last movies you saw
Saw UP today.
Amazing, as I expected. Very funny and original. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Densha Otoko (Train Man)
Based on a true story. An otaku stops a drunk man on the train from harassing this lady and she sends him a gift as a thank you. The otaku known as Train Man posts his story on a message board and with the help of the members gets continuous advice about how to go about dating the woman. It was first a book in the form of message board posts and has also been turned into several manga, a tv series, and this movie. I read one of the manga before watching the movie, which was good, but the movie captures Train Man's dorkiness much better. What I really like is you see the chorus of people on the message board posting their help from their respective homes/jobs and see how Train Man's story affects their lives. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Sounds very interesting, I'll try to find it.

Re: Last movies you saw
Supercop
I'm running out of Jackie Chan movies to watch from Netflix's Watch Instantly list. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Did you see The Myth? My brother loved it because it's so bad.
|
Re: Last movies you saw
Just watched The Myth. It was...well, it was pretty...and the historical drama part was good. First martial arts movie with flying I've seen where there's actually a reason behind it.

Re: Last movies you saw
I "watched" Bangkok Dangerous.
It was like 3 in the morning and I was at work so was in and out of sleep. Anyhow... as far as I can tell its about a long-haired Nick Cage teaching an Asian kid karate... think about it |
Re: Last movies you saw
I love Jackie Chan. He's da man. I'm going to get a 'bundle' of his films once I have more storage capacity. There aren't too many of his movies that I have yet to see, but a lot of them were viewed so long ago I need a refresher.
I have to see Project A still. The sequel was soo good, can't believe I haven't gotten to the original yet. Also, I wanna check Thunderbolt cuz of the race scenes. I heard 3 Brothers(aka dragons forever) is super. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Sunshine Cleaning. 7.5/10
I didn't really know what to expect, but it was entertaining. Definately more of a woman's movie though. There were 10 girls and 4 guys in the theater. Oh and I recognized the main character as the girl from Catch Me If You Can. She played a pretty good role here. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I watched Get Smart last night, but fell asleep during the last 30 minutes. Not that it was boring/bad, I was just too sleepy, and it was too late. What I saw I liked, pretty funny if you look at it the way it was meant to be looked at. 7/10

Just watched Bridge To Terabithia, it's not often I will watch a Disney movie but I actually thought this was a good film. Anyone who has seen it will know what I mean when I say, 'Disney really can be cruel/nasty mother fuckers when they want to be.' |
Re: Last movies you saw
Oh thanks. That would be much appreciated.

Re: Last movies you saw
Just watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge. Entertaining and cheesey movie with some wonderful cinematography and some classic horror shots in some classic horror scenes. It does show a bit of its campiness, and yeah..Freddy got campy in the latter movies.
I'm actually thinking about just knocking out the whole Nightmare on Elm Street series. I used to be terrified of these films when I was a kid. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Ok, I've got a problem with watching movies. I watched Blade Runner last night, a movie I simply love, and fell asleep during the last 30 minutes again. What is wrong with me?
|
Re: Last movies you saw
You work too hard.
Try getting a bit more sleep. Go enjoy the calmness and beauty of nature, it has a very positive effect. Pff, who's the doctor here? |

Re: Last movies you saw
Haha :D No, I don't watch in bed, I watch on a couch, but lying down :D I think it's because I got used to sleeping at 12-1 o'clock at night, and my movie watching usually falls in between those times.
I do get a lot of sleep lately Angrist, I'm on summer vacation, I sleep for 10 hours every day :D |
Re: Last movies you saw
Ok then my new diagnosys is: you sleep too much. Sleeping makes you tired! Get a healthy rythm going, by sleeping and waking early.
And yes, watching a movie while lying on the couch, at a time at which your body is used to being asleep... seems pretty obvious? |
Re: Last movies you saw
Yeah, I guess so. Never used to happen before though :)
And I just watched Yes Man, like it a lot, was really good. And I didn't fall asleep, lol :D |
Re: Last movies you saw
Ip Man
Awesome. By far one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Won best picture in the last Hong Kong Film Awards. Watch it. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Ip Man was good, however, something about it either dragged on or just didn't click fully. Maybe it was the cultural clash between Chinese and Japanese, like, through a HK perspective. They've got unsettled war issues and i just felt foreign to the rather...dreary wartime heartdrama theme.
I'd recommend if you like donnie yen. I liked flashpoint. I think it was the final fightscene that just rocked. mma so i saw The day the Earth Stood Still. awful. expected. also, Raising Arizona and the Lady Killers Millennium Mambo < -- I recommend! def a slow/art wrencher. Its interesting now because it happened about 10 years ago ;) Why that timeline. What's the significance? ... summertime is movie time |
Re: Last movies you saw
Miracles
Such a fun movie. Will have to find a subtitled version someday. Thanks again Ric. Getting Flash Point now. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I watched Wild at Heart, directed by David Lynch. Not really my favorite by his, but that first scene is amazing, and so is the acting throughout.
|
Re: Last movies you saw
Young Frankenstein (1974) Mel Brookes is funny. Black n white, everyone's probably already seen 'cept me.
Harakiri (1962) Masaki Kobayashi I'm liking this director more n more. Harakiri was amazing. Boring maybe in a few spots but once the plot gets laid out more it begins to tense ya up n hope! I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Seven Samurai, but I felt this film paced and crescendo'd much like Yoji Yamada's 'The Twilight Samurai'. Which was good. little slow but not long. Kagemusha (1980) Kurasawa Saw this a few weeks ago, this flick left me feeling sad at the end. It was like a yearning for the protagonist to continue the ruse. Think Ran I saw Ji Ji (Miracles) a while ago but I can't remember any of it! i hate that |
Re: Last movies you saw
Saw Away We Go recently in theaters.
So good. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Flash Point
Great great end fight. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Partly because of all the Japanese anime talk, I watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I'll give it a 7/10.
My brother liked it a lot more than I did. I enjoyed it (especially the atmosphere when they're throwing ball), but some things should have been better. |

agree I'd say Paprika was better. TGWLTT is more of a 'watch it with a girl' type So, I saw The Ruling Class (1974) Peter O'Toole is one of my favourite actors. Blasphemy done comically. Funny movie with a lot to say. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I got Kiss, Kiss, Bang Bang on Typhoid's recommendation, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, Robert Downey Jr. is pretty ace except didn't care for him too much in Charlie Bartlett.
I also saw The Wrestler at work last night, it was an enjoyable movie, but guess since a wrestling fan... the stuff he put himself through isn't really new or shocking.. if anything its just a sad reminder of so many stars. I did mostly get like a Hogan vibe from him though I guess a case could be made for many many more. |
Re: Last movies you saw
You watched a movie at work?!
