The Mindscape of Alan Moore.

Very interesting. He starts off talking about his early childhood and view of the world, school, jobs, and eventually finding himself writing comics. From there he touches on some of his works in relation to the world at the time. The rest of the movie is him talking about magic, religion, and science while different images grace the screen.

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas.

i went into this movie not expecting to be delighted by it at all, but once i left, i was shocked. this movie was extremely good. and it hits a spot in your heart. it had it's almost, scary (for lack of a better term), or nail-biting moments, to scenes filled with nothing but love and happiness, to even heartbreak. it was great.

Really liking this Netflix on Xbox thing.
The movie sadly was nothing special. I preferred The Perfect Score.

Don't Mess With The Zohan.
Not that great. At this point, I think Sandler just has a bet on how over the top he needs to make a movie before people stop going to see it.

Reign Over Me was a good movie. He took a step outside his typical role and went for a serious, dramatic character. And succeeded in my opinion.

and

Milk was incredible. Sean Pean had better be nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Harvey Milk, the murdered gay San Francisco supervisor. This movie is a must see.

Oh, and Pirates II is the most expensive Porno ever made. Around $8 Million dollars. The Lead actor, actress, Director/Writer, and head of Marketing did a showing and Q and A here at UCLA of the movie and, let me tell yah, watching a porno for 2 hours with 400 other college students sure was an experience....

Good Luck Chuck
Pretty standard romantic comedy, but I enjoyed.

Inside Man
Awesome cast. Good story. Nice conclusion. A little confusing.

I think you meant Inside Man but they're already working on a sequel which i"m excited for.

Gone Baby Gone
Very good. I thought it was over halfway through. How wrong I was.

The Fall
One of the prettiest movies I've seen in a long time. Reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth a bit. It was weird seeing the Piemaker from Pushing Daisies be angry...and killing folks...without magic fingers.

krypton, I'm glad you liked 'BitSP' I'm stoked on seeing this instead of that bullshit, Valkyre. Please guys, don't waste your money on it, Cruise's paycheck depends on revenue as he is also a producer. This guy belongs to a eugenics minded cult which views emotions such as anger as coming from 'body thetans'. He just bought a castle in Italy to serve as a retreat for scientologists.

Gone Baby Gone was ok, overhyped I thought. Clint's newest film, Gran Torino was an enjoyable experience. The laotian gang drama wasn't done all that well but the movie was still definately worth the watch.

I've seen the first 3 episodes of afro samurai. I like it lotsa....dunno about the huge budget but the combat animation continues to blow my mind.

Just saw "Milk" upon Acebot's recommendation.

It was definitely good (minus the depressing ending).

Seven Pounds... decent, but predictable

Raging Bull, it just didn't work for me.

Zack and Miri, pretty funny stuff.

Started watching Dark Knight on my friend's Blu-Ray and nice TV. His brand new copy skipped like 10 times so he turned it off in disgust. Bummer.

The Mist (based on a Stephen King story). Hm... I'll give it a 6. Maybe 7.
A decent monster movie, but some stuff was annoying (a religious woman who keeps shouting that it's Gods judgement day).

I found the best part of the movie was the people stuck inside and looking for someone to blame. They really should not have shown the monsters. They should have just kept them hidden in the mist

That's the problem with a lot of monster movies. That most monsters just can't be as scary as the ones you imagine.

It's like when you grow up and watch older horror movies and realize the bad special effects and cheesy costumes.

So true. It's like they couldn't decide if the wanted a comedy or a drama and it just fell on it's face.

I thought the monsters were actually pretty good. A lot of different ones. It's a shame we never saw the first one again.

My brother and me recognized the typical King parts, where you have some characters speculating what's going on. It was even worse in The Langoliers, where the writer was just guessing and got it right.

Also, I wondered if this was just a random story that King came up with when he was sitting on the toilet.
"Hm..... mist! Hm.... monsters from another dimension.... A crazy religious woman... a crazy ending. Should be another bestseller!"

How was it?

Its fairly comic-booky. being that the dialogue is silly, and the action too. It was fun overall. Has the same visuals as Sin CIty pretty much.

The Spirit is a crazy womainzer :p

And Samuel L Jackson is obsessed with eggs

I saw Doubt today. 7.5/10 if I had to say. Merryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman are fantastic as you would expect, and that pretty much makes the film worthwhile.

Seven Pounds... Not Will's best movie... not his worst.

Zack and Miri... fun movie. Gets a lil mushy.

Raging Bull... not that great.

The Usual Suspects... combines two of my favorite movie genres. Though, I had the crook pinned pretty early, but eh.

Re: Last movies you saw

i saw "Tropic Thunder" a few days ago, and my oh my, i must say that movie was not THAT funny. i really only felt like the parts with tom cruise were funny, it was so odd seeing him play such a comical/ridiculous part. Ben Stiller basically created that movie himself after i saw the credits roll, all i saw were "Ben Stiller." Jack Black's character was flat-out stupid, and Robert Downey Jr. was "decent", but all-in-all, i just didn't think that movie was as comedic as planned to be.

i saw this movie called "Garden Party" last night, and it was a bit hard to follow. there were five central characters, and with each character, came a different problem, or pet-peeve in the movie. things bounced around and you could tell the ideas were quite scattered throughout. i might have to give it another watch just to be able to explain what the movie itself was actually about.

JCVD. Enjoyable. The direction felt like a mix of Children of Men and the game Resistance. It also had the most annoying scream/yell I've ever heard.

Re: Last movies you saw

Jean Claude Van Dam?

I just saw Quantum of Solace. I liked it enough. I'm sure it would've been better if I had down a double viewing of CR and QoS. I felt that the villain was decently done, despite what others seemed to think of him.

Safety Last! it's from 1923. Silent. Good. The more silent films I come across the more I get the feeling that the 20's had it down. Despite the antiquated look it still manages to fully entertain. Anybody seen Buster Keaton's The General?

I want to see The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke. Heard it's beautifully acted.

Re: Last movies you saw

The Matrix Trilogy.

Man, part 2 and 3 are bad. So much unneeded crap. The whole Merovingian storyline is terribly boring, while it takes up almost an hour or so.
And why are they so desperate to show that Neo and Trinity love each other? Probably because both actors can't show any emotional faces??

I think the Wachowski brothers should have gone for a single sequel movie, instead of spreading it out over two.

The Matrix 9/10
The Matrix: Reloaded: 6/10
The Matrix: Revolutions: 6/10

Oh and JCVD looks interesting, I'll probably watch it at one point.

Se7ven was awsome.

I just watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and it was quite good, but as for these recent comedy love stories, I think I like Zach and Miri a little better, and I also liked Knocked Up a LOT.

It's a good movie, but I don't think I ever want to see it again. Like Saving Private Ryan. And Shindler's List.

Re: Last movies you saw

Mmmmm...the Matrix sequels get better with time. Or is that worse?

I was considering repeat viewing Quantum of Solace in theaters, but I'll just wait till it comes out on DVD and finish rewatching all the old EON bond films.

And I loved Tropic Thunder. I thought it was a great parody of all the war movies. Had the music, had the stereotype characters, and it had Jack Black delivering quite possibly the funniest line in cinema while tied up to a tree. Oh and the opening of the movie was also laugh-inducing.

I saw Doubt. Merrell Streep gave an AMAZING performance as did Phillip Seymour Hoffman (who I always have loved).

I haven't gathered the patience to sit through Benjamin Button yet, so yeah. 3 hours...fuckkkkkkkk that.
