That U2 is pretty cool. I'd have to listen to some U2 and even see if I liked them before buying one. The Photo is cool too. I'd like to see how well it displays in real life.

for ipod photo is 15 hours of playback, 5 hours of playback with slide show?

On the topic of mp3 players, can anyone recommend a good, affordable, mp3 player? Under $200 would be nice, nothing major or fancy, don't need a ton of space, only thing I care about is good quality.

not quite just as good. but close enough for most people i suppose.

and im pretty sure i've seen 256mb ones for much cheaper then that (yes i know its in canadian)

I always like when people say 500 is too much for an mp3 player, then they want a small oen for cheap. if they get a 256mb one at lets just say $100 (to make it easier to add up).

to equal a $500 40GB ipod, they'd be spending... $15,600

*shrugs* somtimes makes you wonder which one is really 'over priced' hehe

A tip for new owners: Don't even bother trying to keep the back silver side pretty. I made sure nothing rough ever touched my iPod's back and when I handled it I would always shine it up afterwards and it still has scratches. It's impossbile. So just get a plastic 'jacket' or something. Not that any of this really matters. I guess I was just eccentric, I still take care of it but I don't allow myself to get upset over it anymore. And lose the earbud headphones and just use your normal ones. Earbud headphones are bad becuase the sound isn't shielded by the soft cushion of normal headphones at all and they do directly in your ear which is proabaly too close to your ear drums so music can be damaging.

my silver side is still scar free. aside from hand prints nothing ever happens to it. I have no idea how i would ever get it scratched. that pocket clip sleeve is perfect for that. cant get scratched while its in there. and i use the remote a lot.

but i find it really easy to keep the thing scratch free. shiny side shows finger prints really really easy, but thats easy enough to wipe off with your shirt. lol.

Question about mini disc players:

This may sound like a stupid question...I'm not sure, but anyway I'm wondering about whether or not the mini disc player I choose to buy will determine the amount of songs I can have on any mini discs used with it. What I mean is, let's say a mini disc holds 1GB of songs, it doesnt matter what mini disc player I use it on, it'll always be able to play that 1GB of songs?

Yeah kind of a stupid question, I'm just curious.

Edit: :sneaky:

As long as it plays mp3's it wont matter what player.

But say like CD players. 700MB CD, one cd player plays mp3's well that will fit about 150 songs,

But say another cd player only plays audio cd's. well when you burn the song in audio mode it holds 80min, so about 15 to 20 songs.

I'm not totally sure what the different types of mini disc players there are, just make sure it plays file types, mp3, mp4, or wmv or ogg what have you.

Go on ebay and buy a used/new ipod.

There are plenty of 3rd gen ipods still in original wrapping for close to 200 american.

aren't there any Ipods with something like 2 or 4 GB instead of 20 or 40 GB? I don't need that much space, and I want to save as much money as possible.

hehehe, most say they dont need the space, but they're usually thinking the only use for it is songs.

ipod mini's are 5gb. look for some of them on ebay or something perhaps.

well what the hell, Ipod mini is $100 less than an Ipod with 20GB of space....that makes sense. $350 CAD is still too damn much. Bah.

yes, as i noted before. the only way to feel good about the space/price ratio is to get the one with the most space.

Does it make sense that a 256MB costs a freakin $120 when a 40GB ipod only costs $500 ?

the higher amount of storage you buy, the more your getting for your money. And the wonderful thing about the ipods is they're also a hard drive for your PC. i've backed up many files onto my Ipod when reformating, or i've taken huge games to my friends on it instead of trying to burn it on many CD's etc.
i love the extra space

And what i love even more...is if i devide my space down.... im getting that 256MB mp3 player at only a bit over 4 dollars. lol. Now thats the price the 256MB ones should cost if it was really priced by storage. :)

I was unaware of this. You can put any type of computers files and such on your Ipod?

Null

yes. its a hard drive. it holds anything that will fit in it. You can store TXT files on it and open them up and read them on the ipod. it comes with games on it. calendar, alarmclock, etc.
