Does anyone else have this game?
I bought it last weekend and have been playing it for 2 or 3 hours every night sense then. Today marks the beginning of my fall break (one week off of school), and I have probably played it for about 6 hours today...with 1-2 hour breaks of GGXX in between.
I must say...it's an awesome game. If you love real time RPG's, than you will love this game. If you love the Xmen, you will love this game. If you love BOTH...well, what are you waiting for?
I've heard some people say the game plays similiar to Diablo...but I've never played it, so I cant say. What you do is select a group of 4 Xmen for each mission (you can change your lineup at save points throughout the mission), and you must use the xmen and their particular powers to get past obstacles. The Xmen you are not using will still get experiance and gain levels, just not as quickly as the active Xmen. With every level, your stats are boosted, and you are awarded 2 points. You may use one to upgrade one of your stats, and the other to upgrade your abilities. Each xmen has abilities that match their comic book counter parts.
My core team of Xmen is Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, and Jean Grey. I often use Nightcrawler and Gambit as well. This game has managed to capture the true spirit of the xmen very well. Certain characters like Jean Grey and Storm and earn the ability to fly, and Iceman can freeze practically anything. And I never grow tired of using my Jean Grey's Telekenisis ability to pick up bad guys and throw them around. The controls are absolutely perfect, and you wont find a better Xmen game anywhere.
I just cant say enough on the character development. Each character has SEVERAL abilities to level up. My personal favorite is Nightcrawler. By upgrading his Teleport ability you can teleport further and further on the screen, doing more and more damage. I never grow tired of popping out the side of a wall onto an enemy, then hopping back through and starting all over again.
Aside from the many many missions, you also are alloted time to explore the X Mansion in between missions. You can walk around the grounds, visit the dormitories, and and explore the underground subbasement.
I was just having so much fun playing it I thought I would come here to share my experiance.
