I just got back from 'Wimbledon', an English movie about tennis and love, I liked it very much. Kirsten Dunst played some part in that (but don't tell my g/f ;)).
Sport movies can be pretty cool, especially when they're based on a true story.
It's often kinda standard though. Some underdog, things go well, things go terribly wrong, wins anyway.

My Favorite Sports Movies would be:
1. Rudy
2. *Spot Reserved For Friday Night Lights*
3. Mighty Ducks 1/2/3
4. The Sandlot
5. Remember The Titans
6. Space Jam
7. Hoosiers
8. Eddie
And I think that most are cliche because coming back or prevailing over unbelievable odds and winning are some of the greatest feelings in the world. The best sports story's are always come backs, close games, or upsets.

Slapshot definitely takes the cake. But if we are talking about serious movies, then Remember the Titans.
