I've been thinking about this game quite a bit lately, you know after playing Fable and all. But anyway, I heard it's buggy as all hell on the xbox. Is this true? Like what exactly is wrong with it? Should I definitely not buy it on Xbox? (consider that I can get it on PC, although I prefer playing on consoles).

Euh from what I've heard, the loading times are bad, the graphics meh. And you can't download any custom made extensions. Those are great on the PC, you can download extra faces, weapens, anything anyone comes up with! Even whole new worlds, they are all ready for you to download.

Seriously, get the PC version.

Yeah, get the PC version. I don't have either, but the original Morrowind stalled a bunch of times and crashed on my xbox back when I played it. The MODs are crazy for the PC version too.

I only played it on Xbox, and loved it. There are a ton of glitch exploits though... to be honest I didn't like the game all that much until I started cheating. Then I realized how big the world is and how much can be done. :)

I ended up starting over without using exploits and had a blast.

Do not buy Morrowind. It is my least favorite Xbox game. Do not buy this game.

If I would have never turned into a power hungry guy who exploits the heck out of this game, I think I would be just like Bond. :p

The game takes a while to get used to... skilling and leveling up is pretty tough, and many of the missions are not explained very well at all. (and the graphics suck) I personally enjoyed being a Thief though, it was so easy to get to the top in that guild, and you can use a lot of trial and error.

Some decisions you make just stick with you until the end. And Because you can spend hundreds of hours going in one direction, decisions suck. (assuming you like the game like I did :p)

Your first run through I suggest you ignore the story all together and explore. Steal and kill to make money and level. second run, be very careful about your decisions, remember every NPC you kill is gone forever, and can make road blocks for yourself.

I loved Morrowind, but do NOT get this game unless you are able to dedicate extensive hours to gameplay. The game is about immersion and ROLE PLAYING... not hack and slash, not graphics, not nit picking. If you want a world class old school pen and paper RPG translation for the Xbox, get it, but remember I warned you.

But if you have the option of getting it for the PC, it is better on that platform.

I played at least 1 or 2 hundred hours of morrowind and never got past like the first 5 quests of the story...yeah, it's big.

As a FFXI player, I would say Amir...err, DarkMaster could most likely be able to handle the "time consumption" of this game. I played Morrowind for the months that I was waiting for FFXI, not nearly as bad.

Strangler is right though, it is role play. You have to decide what type of character you are and how you would react in certain situations, and stick to it. My character was a Treasure Hunter and assasin. But I think the main reason I went that route is because there is very little responceabilty in that role.

(-EDIT- Any given day I'd steal from or attack random victims... as long as I didn't get caught it worked for me. I ended up robbing the three biggest and heavily guarded "banks" on the game... I was so proud of myself. ;) [of course, I failed robbing them ton of times, but I'd just reload then])

Because a good guy and making a honest living is tough.

Morrowind, along with it's expansions (Tribunal and Bloodmoon), is great...i have it for PC...the game is HUGE...so you'll need a lot of time for it...i guess i would recommend it for PC since you could download patches and what-not to fix glitches and stuff...so in conclusion...if you're getting this game, get it for PC

I'm sorry, my problem with the game is that it takes a billion hours to get anywhere. So if you have a billion hours you will possibly enjoy this game. If you don't have a billion hours please buy another game.

I have the PC version... It seeeeems like it'd be an awesome experience if I had the patience to get into it... Character... moves... too......... slow...

Plus I kept dying which made me cry...

So I started playing Baldur's Gate again...

I prefer KOTOR even though I have to struggle through random crashes... Damn ATI OpenGL... But that's not what we're here to discuss....

Well, the biggest problem with the Xbox version of both the standard and GOTY editions is the "Disc Read Errors" that you get all of the time. As long as you're CONTINUOUSLY creating new saves instead of saving over the same one you'll be fine. But if you don't you constantly get a disc read error - not because the Xbox can't read the disc, but because it ran out of RAM and can't remember where everything in the game is so you have to restart your system to purge the RAM of irrelevant data (official ElderScrolls webpage).

My personal issue with the game was that I got the Shadow Shield early and sold it before I had to get it as part of the main quest and then I couldn't get it back - even by killing the guy I sold it to. He had gotten rid of it. I got no warning that I couldn't beat the game without it like you would get if you kill an important NPC, and was screwed out of 20 hours of gameplay.

Yeah it has it's small problems. I can't do any missions for some Guild leader because he's waiting for a potion that I already gave him 50 hours earlier.

And for the main mission I was looking for a bow, well it appeared that a ghost had that bow, but I killed it and forgot to check the corps (ghosts rarely have something usefull I guess). So when I got back some hours later, the ghost corpse () was gone. :( But i found the bow somewhere in the wall.

But beside that, the game is great for at least 1 run through. And yeah, level up speed first...

Once you have it, post in our thread (http://www.gametavern.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7748&highlight=morrowind) for hints (for example how to level up fast). :)
