Advance Wars DS makes me horny.
Last night on GA we were all cranky about staying up, but as soon as we learned about FFIII and the like, it was well worth it.

Yeah, that's so sweet.
In fact DS is looking pretty sweet right now.
150 dollars doesn't sound like a bad price either.

I don't know if anyone saw the 16 min demo video of Super Mario 64 DS over at GameSpot, but that really got me pumped for the game.
I mean it's nothing more than a dressed up port, but it's sporting the finest clothes known to mankind. New levels, new challenges, and of course new character. They even editted the story a bit, since you start off as Yoshi now and must find the other 3. Also they increased the star count from 120 to 150, more rabbits, different power ups, new levels, different moves for each character and so on. And the mini-games look great as well, I mean a bartender Toad is just awesome.

The game's I'm interested in... I'm curious to see how Mario 64 works out on a small screen using a D-pad...

Well, if that IS the only titles they have at launch, then you are quite right...it is a little week...except for the awesomeness of Super Mario 64 DS!!!
Other than OoT, Mario 64 was my favorite n64 game...so I am extremely excited about it. That is definatly the launch title I'll be picking up.
And I prefer my precious Classic NES GBA SP thank you
YES!!! You were probably being sarcastic, but I really do think my Retro SP is cooler.
And I'm not sure about your question on FFIII...I'm guessing they'll just put the menu's in the bottom screen.
I have another question...which FFIII is this? I get confused on the Final Fantasy games because the numbers change from Japan to America.

No sarcasm, I have one and it's the cutest most awesomest GBA SP ever created...
And I hate those damn Japan/American numbers, I'm hoping it's the American III.... Even though I'd rather just buy that on SNES...... Unless it's a remake, of sorts... *strokes beard*
It's confirmed to be Japanese III. The game that's never ever seen the light of day past it's famicom release in Japan. That means it's dually new to us.
(Get it? Dually Screened and new to Americans? Ha ha)

What they need to do is release that along side with that one secret of mana game which never got brought over here, and finally complete the whole anthology/chronicles/origins playstation set.

And the games run at 60FPS instead of 30FPS while still having better textures. I'm excited. Particularly if they announce a Legend of Zelda game.

Well.... if you look closely, you sometimes see some graphic flaws that the original didn't have.
That would have to be a NEW Zelda game, please not Ocarina of Time, we already had it on the Cube... :(

A new zelda game would kick serious amounts of butt...although I am extremely excited just with this Mario 64 remake. I agree that it shoudnt be OoT though...but DS has the power to make it a realistic type game, instead of 3/4 overhead.

A new Zelda game would make me buy a DS instead of just wanting one...
But I have a feeling Nintendo will release a port/remake/'Director's Cut' of OoT... Look what they did with GBA... *cough*
Then again they are finally making a new Zelda game for that so yeah...

Yeah, what he said...What Nintendo did with the GBA really has me hesitant to buy a DS because I don't just want N64 ports over and over. Though with NEW features in Mario 64 DS, it doesn't look like quite your typical port, which does make me kinda want the DS...I don't think I could live with myself with knowing that I'm missing out on some sort of new Mario experience. Yes, Nintendo has me wrapped around their finger.
Zelda on DS wouldn't interest me immediately. Minish Cap and the Cube version are going to be overwhelming by themselves!

DS will be Region Free!!!
Nintendo of America have sent this email to keen import gamers asking about whether the DS will be reigon-locked:
"Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,
It may interest you to know that the Nintendo DS will be a universal system that can be played anywhere on the planet. Further, it can play games purchased anywhere. Please note, however, that accessories purchased in different parts of the world may not be compatible with the Nintendo DS you purchase.
I hope you find this information useful!
Sincerely,
Nintendo of America Inc.
Mitch Crim"
As good a confirmation as you're going to get folks. Get importing!

video games and girlfriends are pretty similar. I think the main question would be: which is more expensive?
Canyarion

Well, so far she's been quite cheap.... :p we mainly stay the weekends at our parents' places, so we don't have to pay for our food or something...
Also, she has 2 jobs while I'm a student, so we're not really into that "boys pay for girls" thing..... I guess I'm really going Dutch on my girl. ;)

Question: Do my friends and I have to be within the stated radius to send messages or can we send them to each other over wireless networks? Because right now we're are all split up at different colleges.
Canyarion
11-15-2004, 03:35 AM
If your school has a wireless network, you have a chance you can use it. If not, you'll have to be close to eachother.
wireless networks should work. or if your in reach of someone elses DS, whos in reach of somone elses, who reaches someone else and so on getting all the way down to your friend.
Blackmane
11-15-2004, 11:13 AM
LOL, that could be quite a long line of people to direct a message across the country.

.... will that really work?
The way they've discribed it, is the DS sets up its own kind of network grid.
as long as your in distance to connect to one person in the grid, your connected to that entire grid. Now it depends on how good the DS does and how many people get it. but if you think of North America, then put a grid patter over it... And a dot lights up every time someone activates a DS.... as long as you can connect the dots from one spot to the other.. everyone in that line is connected. More that have a DS, the bigger the network gets and more people it can connect to.
Which then this grid is further enhanced by people using wireless network with internet in thier home. Say you got a small grid in new york, everyones in reach and everyone connects to each other. but theres no trail that leads from the 'ny network' to another group of people in chicago. If one of the people in NY connected to that network, is connected to the internet. and one in chicago is also. i guess thoes 2 networks become one.
Now the more you think about this the more it gets confusing.
The simplist way to say it, is that Each DS acts as a WiFi reciever, and a repeater hub to send the signal back out.
and i think the PSP works the same way.
Blackmane
11-15-2004, 01:29 PM
Well, if that is indeed the case and you are able to connect with many people, I will definetely be picking either the DS or PSP up.
I think I want to wait and see which one picks up the fastest. Right now even though the PSP looks like it could be good, I think I might stick with the DS because Nintendo has a good hold on the handheld market and I think most people will be getting that, making a network idea more viable.
*thinks of multiplayer FF3*
*prays*
Canyarion
11-15-2004, 04:02 PM
Hm, that huge network idea sounds really... 'big'.
BTW, I think DS can only have 16 units in 1 network. I don't know if it creates a new network after that, or things start to interfere...
GameMaster
11-15-2004, 04:09 PM
Do both DS units have to be on to receive a message or can a message be sent and received later like e-mail? Because obviously everyone has different schedules and stuff and it would just seem kind of pointless if you could only send messages to each other when you're both currently using your DS's. One of my friends lives in a different time zone so we're sleeping at opposite times. So if I sent a message to him while he's sleeping, and the next morning when he boots up his DS, will the message come in?
