Well, its now offical...the Playoffs are finally upon us. Without further delay, I give you the 2004 playoff schedule:
(all times EST)
National League:

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Game 1: Tuesday, Oct 5th. 1:00PM. ESPN

Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves
Game 1: Wensday, Oct 6th 1:00PM ESPN

American League

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees
Game 1: Tuesday, Oct 5th 8:00PM FOX

Boston Red Sox vs. Anaheim Angels
Game 1: Tuesday, Oct 5th 4:00PM ESPN

So there you have it. Cant say im really all that shocked by any of it. Astros made one helluva run late to sneak in, thats most shocking to me considering how much they sucked there for most of the season. Cubs chocked as always, but that was to be expected. A lot of the Cub fans were really running their mouths throughout most of the season, ive been in more than one arguement with more than one person on this board, you know who you are. Simple fact of the matter is, exactly what ive been saying since Day 1 of this season:

No matter how good the Cubs look on paper, theyre still the Cubs. Simple as that. Im looking foward to some good playoff action.

Im going for the Dodgers.....just so they can shake all the bad baseball jokes about them.

I would go for Boston...but they do have that whole curse of the bambino thing goin for them.....they're f*****. Its probably the freakiest sports "curse" I have ever heard about. But the question remains, If that douche didnt grab that ball....would they have won? Who knows. Its the curse I say.

But I really wish Boston didnt cut down the Green Monster a while ago...(I forget how many years) but now its not so high. It used to be a big deal when a ball went over the monster....now its like.....not a monster.....

Anyway, I'd like Boston to win, just so everyone shuts up about them...

Yea, Lima pitched a great game and acted like he just won the world series. What an ass.

Anyways, the Dogers wont win tomorrow. And even if they somehow do, theres no way they would win game 5 in St. Louis.

Cardinals are in the NLCS! I thought it was very classy of the Dogers to come out on the field after the game and congradulate the cardinals. That wouldve never happened if it was Cubs-Cardinals or Astros-Cardinals, because those teams hate each other.

Man Huston won with a home run in the 9th. That puts the Astros 1 game ahead. I heard that the pitcher that let in the winning run was so mad he punched a wall in the dug out and broke 3 bones in his hands.

DimHalo
10-19-2004, 04:32 PM
No, that was from Sunday's game. Tavarez was pissed after his "difficult" time in the game which ended up with Houston winning 6-5. The seventh inning consisted of Beltran getting a home run off of a pitch that "would have hit the plate." Tavarez punched a phone and broke his ring and pinky finger of his left hand. He should be pitching in St. Louis.

OMG!!! Boston won again!!! The game was crazy, there were some calls that the Yankees didnt like, for example: ARod hit ball out of someones glove when they tried to tag him out, then the umpire called Arod out. The fans got mad and threw things onto the field so they had to bring out police in riot gear for an inning.

That's what I meant. I didn't word it right. What I was saying was they could potentially be the first team to advance to the next round after being down 3 games to nothing. Anyway, right now they're winning 6-0!

Actually..I did mean something different. You're saying they're the first team to be down 3-0 and force a game 7, and I'm saying that they'll potentially be the first team to be down 3-0 and win four straight to advance to the next round.

I don't like Boston too much either, but I'd like to see them win the series just so Yankee fans can shut up about that ridiculous Bambino curse. The Cardinels I don't care so much about. Just curious:

how many of you who are pulling for the Red Sox are actual fans and how many would like just like to see them win because of the curse (or other reasons)?

They're my second favorite team, so yes, I'm a real fan, but not as much as the fans who have lived by the Red Sox all their lives. I've lost interest in the Phillies, but to be honest, I never really cared for them because I was born in Connecticut, and even though my dad is from Philly, I just never got into them. I've always hated New York teams, so I kind of took an interest in the New England/Boston teams. I used to like the Patriots more in the past, but not as much anymore, and I like the Red Sox and the Bruins, but I don't really care for the Celtics.

The Red Sox and the Bruins are my second favorite teams for baseball and hockey..the Mariners and the Flyers being my favorites. Football my favorite team is the Eagles, and the Patriots aren't in my top five anymore. Anyway..this is all kind of pointless, I am a Red Sox fan, and I'm not one because I want the "curse" to be lifted.
