I honestly find 200 a little hard to believe...

If its actually released at that price, I wonder how big of a hit Sony is taking for each unit sold.

Yeah ok you can believe this if you want to or not, I know it's hard without a pic. The first and regular bundle is the PSP, memory stick (forget the space), rechargable battery, battery recharger, and headphones for $199.99. Second one is the same, except the memory stick has more space, there's a case I believe, and...crap I don't remember, but that's for $299.99. The third and best bundle has all that previous stuff, a larger memory stick than the second one, some kind of fancy case, a GPS device, some translation media software, and some other thing, for $399.99

They already said they fully expect to take a loss for each one.
and same as all the prices that have been mentioned, i dont fully believe any untill the final final word.

But if this did end up being the price for the PSP, thats a giant step for sony, and i'd be betting it would win outta the 2. IF its that price that is.

if that image is still in your mem somewhere, save it and put it as an attachment

I'm not in a position where I can spend $200 for the PSP. But the $50 difference between that and DS isn't bad. If it was a $100 difference, I think the DS would've won the majority. We'll really have to just wait and see though. Working teenagers could get it but I think the only way kids will be able to get a PSP is through Santa or the Spirit of Hanukah. I guess the same for DS.

If its $199.99 then wow. Sony has to be taking a huge hit with each one.

my question is. if thats a magazine, why hasnt the net heard of it before a magazine comes out? that means that news is weeks old for them. So where does this info come from?

i might buy the $199 package, if there is such a thing. Matter of fact, i would buy it. but something sounds fishy. why in the name of god would sony make 3 packages for people to choose from. they know damn well that parents will never be able to decide of what to get. i'm willing to bet no one will buy anything but the $199 dollar one. so what is the point in even releasing 3 packages?

Point is, Sony isnt marketing it towards kids, the older people who like to buy electronical gizmos are known to buy more. i bet you the top one will sell quite a bit. its a smart move for sony, if its true... Because they'd be marketing a package towards each type of buyer.

After how many times I've seen this scan get shot down at my other forums... all I can say is, I'm skeptical.

I wish it launched for like $400 so I could pass on it with ease, and wait for a few price drops...if the basic 'bundle' goes for $200 it might be too much to resist :(

I'm a marketing student, and Sony is damn good in this area of business.

I think the price is a steal. Considering its about Christmas gift buying time, so prices either go up a little, or down alot. Depends on the company i guess.

But Its an awesome price I think anyways....its still as much as a cosole though, so either drop the price of the console, or of the handheld. It makes no sense to me.

But i know its the release price to get back to even, so the price will probably go lower a few months after release.

why WOULDNT it be more expensive than PS2, XBX, GC? it's much more advanced technology.

I want to get it, and yet I don't. I know I want to get the DS - for many reasons. PSP I think will be a nice to have, and I'll probably wind up getting it - though it will have to wait.

I'm just curious..

And I've seen this discussion brought up before..

But why is a UK magazine quoting American prices?

I mean wouldn't it be in pounds or euros or something?

Also why didn't they announce it during their conference?

maybe they were only provided with US launch numbers

in any case, most view this as speculation...whether or not this source means a damn thing

*Sigh*

we were Owned with a capital "p"

EDIT: Its photoshopped. They tried to make it look normal. But I like in the first paragraph the word "Beast" is cut off by the edge to read "Bea-st". Now, a real editor would just start the whole word on the next line, considering it is impossible to hyphanate "beast" for it has 1 syllable.

looking back at it, they forget a lot of commas, and use the word "snazzy" too much. forget the "can't" "cant" thing... a real editor wouldn't get away with that crap...

and who said anything about a camera or a GPS device?

Perfect Stu

I'm pretty sure Sony has talked about both...an Eye-Toy like camera device (which could probably be used for taking pictures and the like) and I KNOW I've heard about a GPS device

Well I wouldn't consider spelling/grammar errors as it automatically being a fake article. I mean look at ign, do they even have editors? Man if I had a dollar for every mistake I've seen in articles/reviews/previews at ign.

Ha, as I saw the image, I had the impression that it read somewhere "don't be fooled", that would have been a cool hidden message.
But then I found out where I read it: DM's sig. :(:p "Don't be fooled Jimmy, if a cow had the chance he'd eat you and your family."

They could have made those typos just to make it believable... would make sense to me.

Also, the 3rd package was quite ubelievable, you got a GPS, bigger stick, 'metal case' and 'translation software', for only $50 extra. :wtf:

Anyway.... :D
