At GT, I have made 3 threads about this, each time the frum lost all it's posts, so I can't dig it up.

but anyway, I made a poll, and in al three you guys said GCN will be the most powerfl system by a land slide.

Now that both systems have been out 4 months, which do you believe is the most powerful of the two?

My Opinion:

If Gamecube is more powerful, it isn't showing it.

Power? Xbox
Games? PS2

Dreamcast!

nah but really... *shrugs*... from what I hear, Xbox...

but I don't know I don't see a huge difference between the two... I guess that's cuz I don't really pay attention to differences in graphics when I consider even PS2's graphics to be great?

Of course, power isn't ONLY about graphics... but also like AI and stuff... but I havn't actually PLAYED an Xbox game so I dunno ;)

you suck...

...

I agree with you, it isn't all about visuals...

Halo vs Rouge Leader for instance, RL uses more polygons so it (supposivly) looks better, but Halo's AI is at a different level.

Gamecube, when I was playing Pikmin, for a minute I though there were real flowers on my T.V.

I disagree. Halo's AI is just average for a FPS (better than Goldeneye, but nowhere near the AI of Unreal or Unreal Tournament).

Most of the AI in RL is just averga also, but there are some places, such as Endor, where some of the ships evade you extremely well, and seemto be almost like real pilots. A lot of the ships are just duds, though.

Powerful? Xbox
Will that matter without zelda, mario, and metroid? No;)

The 5 XBox games w/ the best graphics are better than the 5 GCN games.

For instance, Overall, Halo, Wreckless, PGR, Bloodwake and DOA3 beat out RL, Pikmin, SSBM, Waverace, and Courtside.

So, right now, even though GCN has the sngle most visually impressive game, it doesn't have much else in the graphics department.

We'll see what happens in the next game generation, like how SF and ED compare to Morrowind and Project Ego (I know, the're different genres, but those are the first games that came into my head).

I still believe the system are very similar in power, but I bought a Gamecube since I like its games better.

yeah, but it's better than RL imo

They don't ride on "rails" like the N64 version, but all the ships have the same AI patterns... once you figure out how to kill of one ship one-on-one in any level... you know how to kill them all.

In terms of polygon pushing, X-Box obviously wins, but in terms of lighting, textures and general graphical hoo-haa that can be applied, GameCube holds the edge by far.

Umm... I think Xbox wins both ways if you look at the specs...

if you are talking about the games shown so far, I think they are tied.

Raw Polygons: I'll have go with either PS2 or Xbox
Resolution: XBox
Textures: Xbox or Gamecube
Lighting, Special Effects: Gamecube

Overall: XBox

why? because I said so.
