We had a topic about this some time ago. Who plays UT2004? Which servers do they play on? And what are their names? It would be nice if everyone who played got together somehow.

I'm TIB|Nighthawk, and I almost always play on jolt.co.uk's Assault servers (one of them has been down for a few days though - only 1 left).

And there are some Quake 4 in-game screenshots here (http://games.tiscali.cz/clanek/screen.asp?id=1923).

I hope those haven't been posted before...

Oh yes, and i think this month or next month, Unreal Tournament 2004: Editors Choice gets released :D
Added content in Unreal Tournament 2004 - Editor's Choice Edition will include:

* New Maps for Onslaught Mode: Several new and never-before-seen environments for the new and mega-popular Onslaught mode, created by the masterminds at Epic Games, are being added. New maps will include never-before-seen areas as well as previously released maps created for Windows XP. Onslaught is an epic-in-scope team-based challenge that pits two teams in bitter warfare across massive terrain maps in a frag-filled battle to destroy, capture and hold key power nodes. Vehicles play a major role as war-hardened flying and driving machines transport combatants to the "front" and serve as mobile platforms to launch devastating attacks on the enemy.
* New Vehicles: Three new vehicles are being added for Onslaught mode to help gamers tear up the countryside and bring their enemies to their knees. New battle machinery includes the Cicada, a two seat air vehicle; the Paladin, a deadly new tank that includes a player-oriented directional shield; and the Self Propelled Mobile Artillery (SPMA), a long-range artillery vehicle with a deployable hovering spotter camera.
* New Characters: Six new characters crafted by Epic Games will join the bloodthirsty lineup of techno-gladiators for players to choose from and play as, including two MetalGuard mercenaries, two Mecha Skaarj and two Necris characters.
* The Best Community-Made Game Modifications: Unreal Tournament 2004 boasts one of the most robust player communities in all of video games, and, with the tools included game, this community is able to alter gameplay and in some cases, completely change the way Unreal Tournament 2004 is played. Epic Games' "Make Something Unreal" Contest has been challenging this community to bring their mods to a professional level and the community has answered the call. Epic has selected the best of the best, and those AAA community-made games will be included in Unreal Tournament 2004 - Editor's Choice Edition. With several new and unique ways to play Unreal Tournament 2004 fans of the series both new and old are in for a huge variety of gameplay experiences.

Will be released in a downloadable Free addon for thoes who already own 2004 :p :)

Oh, and be sure to watch out for XMP.

it MIGHT be released with the editors choice, being that they both claim to release around the same time.

XMP was the multiplayer expantion for Unreal 2. the team that made unreal 2, ran outta money and that devision of atari was terminated. But the people making the mod have gotten the rights to remake it for Unreal Tournament 2004.

Its a class based outdoor gametype with vehicles, but you have to collect artifacts, you can hack and take over enemy systems and such and power units. etc.

I love mods :)

There goes my excitement... :D Aw well, I play Onslaught from time to time, so it'll be interesting.

They better not make it a big file though. If it's too big, then it won't be worth wasting my time for the download...

If it's larger than 200 MB, I want you to send it to me on a CD then :). I don't have the patience to wait 2 hours for a file...

lol. what connection you on anyway?

200mb takes like 5min :D

I've got a 256k DSL connection (which I pay an outragous amount of money compared to what you pay in your country) and my d/load speed is 25 Kbps.

What are you on? Probably 2048 cable or sattelite or something. To have a 2048 DSL connection I'd have to pay $500 a month.

actually i get a roughly 4mb cable connection, somtimes closer to 5mb.
satelite sucks for gaming, very laggy.

you need some good competition there so prices get lower :p

[EDIT] actually i just downloaded the Frag Ops mod for UT04, 450MB in under 5 minutes.

did i ever mention how i love comcast? :D

I downloaded a version of FragOps (not the new one with War) but I didn't like it much. Too deathmatchy, and nobody went for the objectives. I then uninstalled it.

But I'm really interested in NeoTokyo and Troopers: Dawn of Destiny. Don't really want to download them though. Maybe if a gaming mag gave them on a CD...

Im waiting on XMP and Defence Alliance 2

Btw, the Editors Choice download is out and ready to download, at about 84MB. Cant wait to go try out the new vehicles =D

Thanks for the heads up. I've just about finished d/loading it (1,5 hours - pretty slow, for my standards even :)). Looks pretty nice...

The Cicada's primary is really powerful. But I really like the artillery thingy's secondary mode. Just like a mini Target-Painter-bomb-salvo. I never saw the 3rd vehicle though. Couldn't find it on any map...

it looks almost like the 2nd vehicle at first glance. easy to miss.

take a close look and you notice the differences. i think 1 has 8 wheels and one has 6, one does the shield with a thicker looking cannon ontop, the other has a long barel and does some other stuff i havnt tried yet.

I downloaded Neo Tokyo last night (about 80 MB) and it's a little weird. There are only 2 servers worldwide, and both were empty when I checked. I tried to join anyway, and it said that my UT2004 patch version was too high. Then I tried offline, and there were no bots, so I don't really know how it plays. The models look good though.
