Err... Actually I'm pretty sure it ships tomorrow. It's out on the 15'th.

At least that's how it's listed in the Gamestop computers (I work there).

Sweet. Sorry for the confusion. I'm betting most major retailers (Walmart) won't have it until the 15'th and then most of the game oriented businesses (EB Games, Gamestop & Co.) will be getting it tomorrow.

Picked mine up after school thanks to a spontaneous ride from my brother. Popped the game in and played for two hours (just the tutuorial) and forgot to save! So I turned the xbox off and did my HW then came back to see that my game was back at 1 hour. Played for about 6 hours straight after that :D

It's a great game and would be my all time favorite game if I hadnt known of what it could have been. I can't help but nit pick and think to myself "Now why isnt that like that, it wouldve been better if that that that". I've barely done anything really so it's only getting better.

I played this after work until 4:30 in the morning morning. I had a lot of worries when I first started playing, but as I discovered more and more to do, my worries quickly became pretty groundless. I'll type up my impressions later on this week.

I got mine yesterday, but I haven't had enough time to play it for more than 45 minutes or so at a time. What I have seen, though, has been pretty good. I've had fun.

I'll maybe post more when I get farther (unless someone posts something that says what I would say anyway, denying my extra post the right to exist).

Just played nearly 2 hours of the game.

I like it, I like it a lot. I'm not sure exactly what I could say besides that, you all know the basics of the game, can't comment on anything much more than that until I get farther.

But yeah, I love it so far.

I'm a good chunk in, and I have to say this game is awesome. The only real complaint I have against is....marriage. What is the bloody point to it? I spent a good while flirting and flexing and posing for this brown haired girl and spent far more money than I would like on gifts. Finally, she started saying things like, "A wedding ring would look good on my finger." (subtle), so I went and spent a fortune on a wedding ring. I marry her and we move into a house I had bought (I had actually planned on renting it out, but then realized I'd to live in something besides the bar if I were married). I stand around. She talks about how happy she is and how cool I am. Several times.

That has been my entire marriage experience. I did get a dowry of 250 (that's two-hundred fifty....period...s'all), but that doesn't even dent the money I spent on her rather than good armor or weapons in my quest to rid the world of evil.

She's not even all that pretty.

I'm staying single when I get older...

I finished my first run through the game about an Hour ago. Finished all good (Halo and all) at the age of 55. I even had magic tats from my constant use of Force Push and Lightning. I was a strong guy though, Got up to 6 in Physique and 5 in Speed. Here's a pic of my guy. I had to take it with my camera phone cus the video camera left that green bar in the middle.

Well I played about a total of 15 hours the first time through and I'm sure I missed A LOT. I only did about 5 sub quests and didnt buy any houses or even get all the tattoes/haircuts/keys/armor types. I still need to find the legendary weapons too. I'm gonna go through good again but this time I'll steal a bunch and wont use as much magic so I wont turn out grey and white.

Canyarion

How do you get older? In real-time or after certain actions?
I mean, can you play longer than 15 hours?

Acebot44
09-16-2004, 03:21 PM
Oh yeah. You can play as long as you want, but after you finish the main quest, no more quests will be given out at the guild, you'll have to find them on paths and in towns. You can still get married, buy houses, all that good stuff too. This game is all about the gameplay and not that much on story, so you'll play it as long as you like because you can find things to do on your own. Hell, walk around a listen to the different reactions you get from people after farting on them. Get people drunk, get yourself drunk, kick chickens, become champions in the bar games.

You age in three ways. 1. When you level up your skills you age about .7 years I believe. 2. When you finish a major point in the story, you'll go onto the next chapter and age a couple years. 3. When you use the will(magic), you'll gradually age everytime you use it, in real time, but it's so small you wont notice it that much till you look at your character after a while.

Are you serious? There's been only one subquest where I had to actually use a ressurection vial or two. The rest were easy so long as I had a few health potions.

Oh, my wife is giving me weapons. Too bad they're obsidian (which are, I guess, inherently evil) and I'm the overly sweet and good guy.

They make me good monies though.

The Hobbe's Cave quest, where you save the old woman's kid, can be challenging. I never said it was hard, just not tremendously easy as so many reviewers have made it out to be. I was under the impression that it would be Wind Waker easy.

I'm on the quest right now where youi have to kieep the bandit prisoner from escaping, and its giving me fits. Not only are the bandits no joke, but the damn prisoner keeps getting in the way and I end up killing him with one errant shot!

Also, I made sure that I increased the difficulty level for myself by making sure I am a meleee warrior only. All my experience goes into the Strength category and a little into "speed", This seems to make many of the enemies and quests much moere challenging, especially those giggling little fairies that fly all over the place summoning creatures and shooting crap at you.

Next time through I'm going to do it as a straight up sorceror.

I'm at the arena quest, not sure how far I am in the game story-wise. My character is 59 years old now, got 12 hours clocked in the game so far, 90% of my time is spent doing stuff that I just feel like doing. I barely do any main quests at all, and I'm not the least bit bored.

Ginkasa

I have some questions that might extend into spoiler territory.

So...

You've been warned...

Anyway...

There's a subquest to get Lady Grey to marry your character. I'm at this part. However, I do not wish to marry Lady Grey for two reasons:

1) I'm already married and I don't need to two [bad word] fawning over me and giving me crap presents (and one of them yelling at me for cheating)
2) Lady Grey killed her sister. I don't dig murderous chicks (I will next time, though ;))

Now, this would mean I probably shouldn't do the quest and marry Lady Grey. However, I have been given reason to believe that this quest may or may not end in me exposing Lady Grey for the evil evil woman that she is and gaining more fame and renown and goodness, etc. But I'm not sure and I don't want to end up with divorce and then marriage so...

Has anyone done this quest and know whether I can choose to expose or marry Lady Grey? And if I can expose her, can you tell me how to get the two guys in the Oakvale Memorial Garden to stop whispering behind my back and tell me where the friggin' necklace is?

You might wanna marry Lady Grey, theres a silver key and a silver key chest in her room which you can only get by marrying her. If you don't like her you can always divorce later.

Ginkasa
09-19-2004, 10:01 PM
But I've heard that divorce = major evil points. And I'm the upstanding halo over the head good guy.

And I like that....

Although the mayor might be able to give me some better stuff than my cheap slut of a wife O_o

The hidden secrets about this game are driving me and many other insane. The most intriguing of all, if the elusive Dragon Quest, which is terribly secretive. It DOES exist, people have modded their Xbox's and searched through the game's code finding things like QUEST_CARD_SECRET_DRAGON_FIGHT, along with specific codings for the dragon's model and such. Also, when you beat the game, there's a single fresco painting missing from the chamber of fate, someone who hacked the game's code found the missing fresco, it shows you fighting a dragon.

BBB refuses to tell anyone how to get these secrest things (there's plenty more besides the dragon), and they specfically told Prima to keep them out of their guide. So...people are going insane right now trying to discover the secrets of this game.

Acebot44
09-20-2004, 09:41 PM
Yeah, when I read that at the boards a day or two ago, I was going NUTS! It will be completely amazing if they find it or a complete kick in the nuts if they simply took one bit of coding out to leave the dragon scripting out of coming into play.

Fable Breaks Sales Records in First Week of Release
Microsoft Game Studios today announced that Fable has had an amazing start at retailers across North America in its first week of release, breaking records and selling through more than 375,000 units. Sales records are being broken at retailers throughout North America: the game was EB Games' biggest first-week sales for any Xbox title ever; it broke Game Rush's first-day sales record for any game; it is the No. 1-selling overall title on any platform last week at GameStop and is the fastest-selling Xbox game at EB Games Canada for the first week.
Fable even grossed more money than the No. 1 box office movie last week, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow*.

"Fable was the best first-week title on Xbox that we've ever had" says Jim Tyo, vice president of EB Games Canada. "The game has exceeded our expectations, and we're confident that this strong sales trend will continue."

"Fable has been a huge hit for us, and it was our number one-selling title across all platforms over the last week" says Dan DeMatteo, president and chief operating officer of GameStop.

Just to give my two cents...

This game is pretty awesome. It doesn't seem to be quite the experience I expected, but it's still an incredible game. Both me and my roommate have been playing it simultaneously which has been pretty interesting. We are both choosing to be good guys though, so I have to be careful to not peak at what he his doing (he's a little further than me)

Anyway...I cannot wait to go through the game next time so I can just be a total, total bastard...I'm so tempted sometimes just to slaughter the innocents, but I've been keeping pretty clean so far, and that's how I'll finish.
