Yes, I feel sorry for everyone who lost someone in 9/11 ( Because I did, so I know what its like).

But a question if i may. And i dont want to like....offend the Strangler or anything.. ( its not Directed at him) But i said this a long time ago:

Why are we remembering a great tragedy? It was one of Americas worst moments, so why remember the tragedy? Why not remember the people, if anything.

Basically, im asking why? I dont know any holiday for remembering the Holocaust and those lost.

I dont know any Holiday for the Japanese internmnet camps in BC during WW2.

We dont remember the day the Titanic sank on, and remember that.

Yes, I know it was a terrorist attack, but that is all the more reason to not remember the day itself. Why commemmorate the worst day in your nations history?

IMO's anyways. Im not trying to be all "in your face" or start an argument, i just want to know.

They're commemerating the fact that they are vulnerable but can perservere as a nation...I think.

You remember because to forget to let yourself become vulnerable again. Apathy is the greatest tool we can give terrorists. You don't necessarily like remembering such painful memories, but we understand that it ius necessary to remember them for our own sakes.

Its called learning from history instead of just letting it repeat itself.

Personally I think the video of the attack should be shown every year on this date, just to remind everyone of what happened and what will happen again if we go back to business as usual.

Unfortunately I think we'll have to endure another 9/11 before we get the message again.

:WHOA: I honestly cant believe you said that.

Well your at it, why not suggest Germany shows footage of Nazis killing Jews for months on end each year? Just so they get the point. And so history wont repeat itself.

Why not show the terrorists executing people on TV, so the public can be aware, and so it wont happen again.

Why not show constant footage of drunk drivers crashing and dying on impact so people will learn from it.

Showing footage each year wouldnt change anything. Nor would thinking about it.

If the public is aware of 9/11, that doesnt mean another terrorist attack wont happen.

If the public isnt aware, that doesnt guarantee another terrorist attack.

I think it should be like Rememberance day. Yes, they have different meanings, but on 9/11 you should bow your head at the appropriate time and give a moment of silence for those who were lost. Not watch thousands of people instantly die on impact with a skyscraper. I wouldnt want my children seeing that. I wouldnt wish it upon anyone to watch that again.

Well, thats you. As for the holocaust, video is shown of that all the time, especially on the history channel. Thinking about past tragedies is only logical. How else are we going to prevent them in the future. I honestly don't understand your viewpoint on this at all... then again I rarely understand where your coming from, so little has changed.

Whens the last time you went to Germany and watched German TV?

How many times do we remember the Crusades? Never. And they havent happened for a long long time.

Educating the public wont differ the terrorists. Unless the public is trained in the military, and decides to form a militia whenever a plane is hijacked.

so little has changed.

Oh my god! Im shocked. Did the Strangler just imply his opinion hasnt changed? Oh my. This is new to me. :p

Typhoid, why are you arguing with me? You said your piece, I said mine. Now let it go. It seems like you are looking for a fight more than not these days. Notice: Any more argumentative posts will be deleted on this thread... thanks.
