Yep you read the title right. Here's the story.
PENSACOLA, Fla. - A man who tried to shoot seven puppies was shot himself when one of the dogs put its paw on the revolver's trigger.
Jerry Allen Bradford, 37, was charged with felony animal cruelty, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. He was being treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound to his wrist.
Bradford said he decided to shoot the 3-month-old shepherd-mix dogs in the head because he couldn't find them a home, according to the sheriff's office.
On Monday, Bradford was holding two puppies — one in his arms and another in his left hand — when the dog in his hand wiggled and put its paw on the trigger of the .38-caliber revolver. The gun then discharged, the sheriff's report said.
Deputies found three of the puppies in a shallow grave outside Bradford's home, said sheriff's Sgt. Ted Roy.
The other four appeared to be in good health and were taken by Escambia County Animal Control, which planned to make them available for adoption.

..... I don't know if I should be happy that he got shot, or sad that those 3 puppies died.....
You don't want to know all the cruelty done to animals... In Holland they have this problem with cats... People are too cheap to sterilize them, so their cat gets kittens every summer (sometimes twice!) and they drown them most of the time. :mad2:

Yeah, there are a lot of bad things that happen out there, and I'm sure we don't hear the half of it. At least this time though, the animals won.

Yeah, I read tht at CNN, it's pretty cool that destiny saved the other four puppies. And the man's hand is probably going to be pretty useless now since he was shot in the wrist.
OH SNIPPITY SNAP
That's awesome.

The dog should be charged with attempted murder.

I think he'd be acquitted on self defense.

The interesting question to ask here though is, did the puppy know what is was doing when it discharged the weapon?

IMO, it did...
but from a professional and sane point of view...it didn't
unless it saw the guy kill the other puppies first and just copied what he did...or something...:hmm:

As much as I know that dogs are very intelligent creatures, I do not think that the puppy knew what it was doing. It had to have some teaching to know what to do. And just seeing the guy do it a few times before would not be enough. I do, however, know that a dog could be trained to handle a firearm in such a manner (as in, triggering it if someone was holding it). I don't know why you would do that, but stranger things have been done.

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with the thought that the dog just got lucky. Or, maybe the guy actually shot himself and just thought that the dog did it. It would seem from the story that he is the only one who really knows what happened so he could be lying.

If they do try the puppie he should atleast be charged as a minor. I dont know if they'll go off of dog years or not.
