I'm in the market for a new monitor. My current monitor has become super dark and it's all fuzzy looking.

As an example, I can't see inside buildings in bf 1942. I have trouble playing any game now because of my monitor.

I want a new one. I'm looking at the 20-22 inch range. CRT. Gaming oriented. Does anyone have a good recommendation for me?

I'd like to keep the price as low as possible but I still want good gaming performance.

thanksya

Sorry, cant really help you here. Im still using my 6 year old CRT, and its working like a charm. Ive never had to make a monitor purchase.

Can't go wrong with something from the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro series. I've got the 930SB (19") and it's fantastic. Only other brand I personally would consider is Sony, but then you're getting a little pricey. Viewsonic does some good cheaper monitors, but they seem to skimp a little on the specs (like limiting you to 68hz @ 1600*1200).

All i know is an LCD screen doesnt keep up with some games, same with plasma....trust me...I tried.....i had to settle for a regular screen. *Curses fast paced ever changing games*

Something about too much happening all at once throws the screen off....its lame.....

it's called ghosting. And I know about the lcd thing. I still would like one but I don't have the money.

There's 12 ms response times which pretty much get rid of any ghosting. 16 ms response is usually good enough for the hardcore gamer.

I'm looking at CRT's though cuz I just can't afford an lcd at this time.

I'm hoping to split the cost with my mom. Hopefully I'll be playing battlefield by the end of today on a nice bright monitor.

I'm looking for a more informed opinion. I'm thinking null or someone. Thanks for the help though.

I'm thinking about getting a samsung 19 incher. It's double the cost if I want to move up to 21 incher. Not really worth it imo. Especially when I plan on buying another super duper machine in about a year. I'll need all the money I can get.

There are LCD's now that don't have the ghosting. You just have to look for it and expect to pay a little more but its worth it.
