"I hate to blame the importer. He probably did not know what he was getting. He brings them in 40-foot containers. But whoever made it knew exactly what they were making," Pedron said.

bah, who cares...they dont even look like the world trade centers really
I think they are making much more of a big deal out of this than it really is...Its just a plane flying between two buildings...nothing more.
That's not even remotely funny.

umm....ok....whoever made that is retarded.....as for buying it, shouldn't the importers know what they are importing? i mean...they could be importing nuclear weapons and wouldn't even know.

Anna Rodriguez, who bought a bag of the candy for her grandson, said she was stunned when she saw the toy.
Well in a clear bag like that... it's pretty funny to not see it off the bat.

My jaw actually dropped when I saw that.
Mine didnt.
It was probably made in Mexico or Honduras or something...and you know...
But i doubt its supposed to be the world trade centres.
Think about it, if you want to make a spinny-plane suspended by two things, what would they be? You dont see too many planes flying close to trees, or telephone poles.
And as for the 9011 that every one has on the bottom, that could be the manufacturers warehouse number that they were made in, incase they need to be traced back to the warehouse.

Honestly, no I dont.
Many things in this world are called coincidences.
Im not defending the toy in any way, because it is a bad toy, im just trying to say maybe it wasnt on purpose.
But like i said on my other post, but you didnt copy it, is what else could it be suspended in? Trees? Telephone poles? Sticks?
The company wanted to make a spinny-plane toy, and knew planes fly over city's. So they made it inbetween two buildings.
Possibly forgetting what happened on 9/11 ( because lets face it, this is the first time ive thought about 9/11 snce last year on 9/11 when they gave some sort of ceremoney)
It could have slipped his mind while he was happy to make an easy buck.

Any or all of the above. A better question to ask is why would a company create the toy to begin with? What friggin' kid wants a "spinny plane"? This was intentional and as the article states, pretty much anyone can see that.
The company wanted to make a spinny-plane toy, and knew planes fly over city's. So they made it inbetween two buildings.
And then imported it to the US, who was the victim of the world's worst terrorist attack, and just in time for the ANNIVERSARY!!!! WHOOOO!!!! Great logic skills.

Why would you think about it? You're Canadian. You didn't lose anyone. You didn't wake up to two icons of your country crumble in a firey hell, watching people who could have easily been you run for their lives. You didn't go to any funerals or held anyone while they cried and simply asked "why?" Of course you wouldn't have thought about it. Its very easy to not think about it when you live on the outside looking in.

Sure it did. Thats not a complteley rediculous assertion at all.
Because, you do know, not everyone thinks about 9/11 every god given day.
Neither do I. But we are all easily reminded when some asshole makes a TOY about 9/11 and then ships it to the US in time for the anniversary. And once again, you're Canadian, so maybe you should just shut up about the whole thing anyway as you just might be deeply offending people right now with some really ignorant comments.

Yes, because i forgot, that everyone in the WTC was American. Every single one of them.
My neighbours boyfriend died in the WTC. He was visiting his dad and was stopping by to get pictures and stuff. So me being Canadian has nothoing to do with it. He was a really nice guy, i used to play street hockey with him when i was little. So yes, i was sad when it happened. Yes, i went to his funeral. Yes, i held his girlfriend while she cried and asked "why?". Seriously, dont be so quick to judge things.
I know I may live in Canada, and apparently to you that means i have no free speach rights, and i have no right to speak my mind. But i take what you said super-offensivly by you assuming I lost nobody close to me during 9/11. Dont jump on someone until you know all the facts. This isnt even about the toy anymore.
And i know you ( or someone else) will make a post saying " One person? Big deal i lost ____ many people" or whatever. Because with you people its all about "one-upping" everything. You need to get in the last word, no matter how minute or important it is.
I was saying that dwelling on the past, and thinking about it constantly wont bring you anything but more pain.
EDIT: the reason I said it could be a coincidence is because, unlike a republican, I look at things from both sides before i make a judgement. I think about why it could have happened. Yes, he could have been an ass, but also it could have been an accident.
Did you know the guy who made them? No? Then who are you to say he did it on purpose. You could equally say the same thing about me and it being a coincidence, and i understand that, it just seems to me that you people dont.
And dont say " How demcratic" or "how liberal" of me. Because, as Strangler said, i am not American, so dont lump me in with your parties. I am not Republican, Liberal or Democratic. I just have an open mind and look at things from different angles, and im sorry that you people cannot.

I dont like posting personal things on a board full of peopel i dont know. There are tons of things i havent said. I didnt feel the need to say it before, because there was no point, but sadly, i had to use his memory in sake of an argument.
Im honestly ****ing disgusted at what you JUST said. I know i will get - repped for swearing. But it amazes me that you say im lying. Who are you to know what heppens in my life? Who? Your ****ing nobody. You have no idea who I am, where I live or who i live next to. So dont say im making up a ****ing story about my neighbours boyfriend.
So ill spill it all for you right now, just so in further arguments you cant acuse me of lying.
My dad beats my mom.
My dad is an alcoholic.
My parents are drug addicts.
My mom used to be a hooker.
I never see my sisters.
My dad goes on binges where he leaves at weeks at a time.
I used to get hit when i was little. So did my brother.
My mom called the cops on my brother numerous times.
My dad used to cheat on my mom.
My mom is epileptic.
My mom is balemic.
From around the ages of 5-8 i was pretty much raised at my friends houses.
My parents fight constantly.
My family was run over by a bus before i was born.
I have depression.
Im on anti-depressant pills.
My parents have been threatening eachother with a devorce for years.
My neighbours boyfriend died in 9/11.
Those are only some things. So next time you say something i say is bull****, please revert back to this list before you come off like a ****ing asshole.
Seriously. Why would you treat a personal loss as a mere ****ing lie? Youre a sick freak.
And if you need confirmation of any of these, ask Dylflon when he gets back from PAX.
And in retrospect, im not taking the swearing out, because then it loses the madness, but I am sorry if it offended anyone here.
I just think its a joke i get flamed for stating a loss of a person, and nobody believes me.
So Strangler, you better believe next time you say something personal about you, im calling you out on it and coming off like an asshole.
It just makes me so sick ghow you could actually say something like that.
Who here actually says everything personal? Nobody.
Do you know why?
Because its an internet forum.
Your lucky i dont know you. Not to sound like a "macho ass" but if you said what you said to me face to face, i would kicked your face in. Think about it.
Take a personal experience of your own, imagine someone saying your a liar about it.

I am honestly disgusted. Disgusted by your people's conduct. This is pure and utter crap. Before I even get started I would like to say that you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Also I am not sticking up for Typhoid just because he's my friend.
This teaming up isn't cool. I have not seen anywhere in this thread where Typhoid has belittled any of you for having opinions. He at least respects the fact that you think this was some terrible cruel joke. He didn't say, "I think you're wrong" or "that's stupid because..." . He merely stated what he thought could be a possibilty. Now go ahead and disagree with him. Differences of opinions are prefectly fine. But attacking him for thinking something is wrong.
You guys don't need to set out on a crusade when people think differently. It's a closed minded way of thinking. Even if I didn't agree with anything you had to say, I'd at least think about it and respect that you think something rather than attack you with words over it.
(This part is for The Strangler)
Generally Typhoid will read your post and then post what he thinks. Generally you will read Typhoid's post and then try and tell him why he's wrong/dumb.
First off, what the hell? Why should anyone be acting this way? Why can't you jsut freaking agree to disagree and let it be at that? Why do you have to "rip him apart".
Secondly, you're a moderator. Being an authority here, it's your job to set an example for other people who post at this website. Maliciously attacking people's opinion isn't something that I would hope otehrs to emulate.
(For Strangler, Null, Crono and Rumpel)
You know, I like all you guys. I think you're generally good people. But why do you have to tell Typhoid to stop talking? Sure, he may not present his argument in the best way possible, but at least he does have valid opinions. I don't know if any of you think you're better than Typhoid (do you?) but his opinions are in actual fact just as valid as yours. This whole ganging up playground mentality isn't good. This is like mini oppression or something. And oppression isn't something that should be endorsed here.
(end section for strangler, null, crono and rumpel)
Many things in this world are called coincidences.
True. This is not one of them.
As far as I can see, you're both speculating. Strangler, you have to admit that you don't know for sure the motives behind the toy. But you're taking the speculating past the hypothesis phase and claiming your view as a fact. Perhaps you could have said something like "I don't think this is a coincidence". This would be better for two reasons.
1. You don't know for certain that it's a fact so the suggested phrase is more accurate to the situation.
2. What you said isn't technically a fact.

So wait. Hold up a minute. I think I see where you're coming from. Let's see if i have this straight. Typhoid's opinions don't matter because he's canadian. Oh, I get it. Okay then. This makes perfect sense. Except for the fact that Typhoid lost someone he knew in the attack. So considering he actually ahs more of a connection to the attack than you do, doesn't that make his opinion as or more valid than yours? Oh wait, I forgot. He's Canadian. So maybe his opinion doesn't matter. Seriously Strangler, stop telling people to shut up or stop talking or to back down. Because maybe, just maybe, they're opinion means as much as yours. Where are the people telling you to shut up? Oh wait, there are none. Because everyone else is polite enough to accept the fact that you feel differently about things.
Typhoid? More like Typhowned.
Hmmm. Oh. I see what you did. Ah. Very clever. You merged his name with a preterite verb. Fantastically witty.
Thanks for chiming in. Giving your two cents, etc. I just ask you to please consider that you're endorsing attacking people for having different opinions. Is that something you want to endorse? Do you want to put your name on that?
Hey typhoid, what would you be saying right now if Canada was the victim of 9/11?
Would it be a mere coincedence then?
I doubt it.
I don't want to speak for him but I think he'd feel the same way. He was affected by it but doesn't seem to like dwelling on the past. Aside from possibly being more paranoid, I don't think he'd feel much differently. I feel exactly the same way.
Typhoid, how long did it take you to come up with that complete sack of bull**** you just played off as a reply to my post? Its funny how in all the discussions we've had like this in the past, you suddenly reveal a personal experience with 9/11... very convenient and I don't believe it for a second.
Alright. I read this. Then reread it. And I sat and thought about it for a couple minutes. This is probably one of the most offensive/abusive posts you've ever made. You attack at Typhoid for voicing what he thinks but nobody attacks you for this? This post is the sack of bull****. How do you get away with this? I am in awe. Granted, you can't be certain he lost someone, but guess what. He did. This has developed beyond childish. I think a thread concerning 9/11 is the only place for him to reveal this information. Do you wish he'd rather have talked about it in the middle of a Conker thread? I still actually can't believe you posted that.
I am sick and tired of people attacking others for their opinions. Why should anyone have to have that happen to them? Are we not to say waht we think because you think it's wrong? Well that's a bunch of crap. I don't see people calling you stupid or telling you to shut up or telling you even that you're wrong. Everyone else has the common freaking decency to at least accept your opinion. Perhaps you could show the same compassion. I'm not telling you to agree with other's opinions. Just tolerate them for god sakes. It's not that hard to do.
Some of you have conducted yourselves quite immaturely.
In my opinion: you should actually put yourselves in the shoes of those you're attacking. How'd you like to be ganged up on for having a different opinion. Last time I checked Gametavern wasn't a place of facsism.
Actually Dylflon, the 'quit now' was to help him, not against him. (the eye roll was at the entire thread)
his point/opinion was made long ago. Much of what he's doing since sounds like he's tryin to back it up with things that dont matter and things that are false/made up. Whether is it is or isn't, thats what it sounds like.
Its not about oppression, Sometimes the best point in an argument, is knowing when to end it.

I am almost certain that him, yourself, and even I would feel differently about this if the attacks were on Canada. We'd be a bit edgy.
So why doesn't he look at it from the American point of view? How insulting could it be to your country if someone made a toy about the largest attack on your country's soil in history. It's like someone making a Pearl Harbor toy set. Of course he probably doesn't care, because as Strangler said it happened on American soil, not Canadian. And regardless of whether or not he lost someone, his country's pride was not shattered on that day.
Of course, I'm assuming that the toy was indeed intentional. Tyhpoid seemed almost positive that it was just a "coincedence".

Yes, the word "maybe" totally backs you up that i thought i was right.
And this isnt even about the god damn toy anymore. You say lok at the 9/11 from an American standpoint, so I did, and i understand it.
Now look at what Strangler said from my standpoint. I lost someone close to me that i knew since i was 5, he accused me saying he died as a lie. Would you not be just a smidgen pissed off?
And if you say no, just to prove your point, your a moron. ( none of that was directed directly at you Crono)

Look at it this way:
The whole world doesn't know that you're friend died in 9/11 (and doesn't care either). Yet the entire world knows that it happened on American soil, and that 90% of the victims were American. The 9/11 attack damaged the pride and American soul of every American on the face of the entire planet. It humiliated America.
So how is it that an American citizen has less of a connection to 9/11 than you?
We all lost people close to us in our life Typhoid, whether in the terrorist attacks or not.

Oh I see how it is. Newbie gets the hits.
But Crono's right, you'd be surprised. I've been to thingies like this before... message boards where emotional teens lose their meat. That might not be what that Crono guy meant, but at least that is true.
I have had experiences like this. Groups of people in a message board don't get along together. This message board is especially in such a position. I proved it no easier than saying "Typhowned" and suggesting people move on. How unstable we are all. But I served my purpose.
I checked this place out a little 'cuz of people's comments like the Vampyr. It's one of "those" message places. The message places where fanboys take the word "fanboy" to heart, and discussions as well as jokes accelerate into grudge matches.
Maybe I came at the right time, kids. Play nicely together, or find new homes. There are more boards than GameTavern... and it's not hard to make one on your own.
If the condition doesn't improve here soon, I mebbe will be a nuisance still and test limits to remind you there's a chance to move on. I remember when... I don't know how many years ago it was, but kids posted at places like this because they liked games and shared that passion, not because they wanted to press their views and talk of politics and religion.
And who do I think I am? I am Rumpelstilzchen, Rabbelrouser Extraordinaire, and avid gamer. I agree, my opinion is crap. So is everyone's. We need to talk about video games. Video games are in.

This forum branched beyond just gaming. We still talk about games but that gets repetitive so its good to talk about other things.
And I agree about the fanboy and jokes accelerating. I've had it happen many times and I've lived through them but it wasn't easy getting it over with.
But the whole "Your new so you dont know anything" (not exact words but basically how its summed up) isn't needed. Everyone was new at one point. Don't shrug people's comments off because they are new or rip them apart just because they are new.

I wasn't belittling him for being new. I was just confused that he was the newest person here and was suggesting that some of us leave. I thought it was odd.

I have had experiences like this. Groups of people in a message board don't get along together.
AGB - GT, for one.

I'll be keeping my eye on you, because around here, I'm the resident trickster, and you won't be able to test my limits because I have the patience of a Saint. We post here becuase we like games also, Rumples. But unlike most other forums, are minds aren't only limited to that of the console we own. Good day, old bread.

Yeah, there was no bashing of the noobs going on. Dylflon was just saying that if anyone should leave it would be the person who got here last...more like a first come first serve basis. People with seniority traditionaly get the benefits, and this works a little like a tenur. And if you dont like what you see, when you get here, move along.
But I hope Rumpel isnt too flustered from this argument. They happen occasionally here, you just have to learn to accept them for what they are, and realize we have more high points than low points. Things just get downright bad when people dont respect the other people in the argument.
It's rude and beguiling when I see a member here thrashing someone else for their thoughts. Ever heard the saying "penny for your thoughts?"? That's because that's about all they are worth to anyone else. Just a damn penny.
That's why I agree with the wise words of rumpel when he said "my opinions are crap, and so are everyone elses". And Null was right also, you just have to know when to quit sometimes. When you start getting angry in an argument, give your final word and walk away. Just remember no one has the right to steal your happiness or joy, so what do you have to earn from letting an argument escalate into a fight?
But if you can be civilized long to enough to actually RESPECT people, then we could all get along. I dont care how much you hate each other, but you can respect them and their ideas. Doesnt matter how they present them or how much they differ from yours. Respect and friendship dont come hand in hand. You can respect someone and hate their guts.
And rumpel, we do talk about games, and I rather enjoy talking about games, which is why I normally dont get involved in topics like this. I like games, art, books, and music. So let us make a haven in the artists guild and the game boards. :D

I believe this thread is worthy of being locked for good. Anyone agree?

Fine. I guess everything that needed to be said was said.
We all learned a little something from this experience. We laughed, we cried, we grew.
