CS: Source kicks ass!

But I only wish I knew that from experience.. :(

They finally let us lowly non-owners of CS: Condition Zero pre-load Half-life 2, but apparently that means we don't get to play CS: Source. All it means is we get to play Half-life 2 as soon as it's ready to buy from Steam, because it's already loaded on our machines.

They just let us look at the pretty encrypted HL2 files.

Or am I wrong? Please tell me I'm wrong.. Does anyone know how to play CS: Source?

By the way, if anyone wants to pre-load it themselves, just login to Steam and it should come up as an option.

I was downloading at 1 Mb/sec. I was impressed.

CS:Source Beta is pretty cool (playing it) and that pretty HL2 file tempts me too much.

So you got CS: Condition Zero and downloaded CSS?

I'm jealous! :( I've seen videos, and it looks like a pretty awesome graphics overhaul. But have they added any new maps?

That's what I'm hoping for the most, new standard maps. I love CS but Dust1&2 and Aztec finally got old for me..

The HL2 preload makes logic run circles in mind. I mean, does this mean the release is coming in just a few days?

Not really. For the past few weeks (months?) Valve has just been doing bug-stomping so it only makes sense that they'd let people get stuff like sounds and textures that aren't going to change from this point on. For all we know, Valve could just be doing it now to help make the potentially long wait go easier.

I see what you mean. But according to the news update (http://www.steampowered.com/?area=news), as soon as Valve says OK to make the game available, I will be ready to play with I guess no further download.

But you're probably right. I'm just getting antsy.

No, I have the Ati voucher coupon still from when I got a 9600xt at hte end of last year (but have upgraded to a 9800Pro since then)

*edit to reflect your reply as I was typing*
The preload was just graphic and audio files, etc..that wont be changing much if any at all between now and release. There's probably a pretty large download still to come (Probably larger then the 1 gig preload)
