HA! Nintendo will never be sold to M$.

Nintendo is not for sale!

Maybe they'll go for Sony?

I wouldn't doubt if they sold. I mean you give someone enough money and they'd shoot themself in the foot... Greed .... ugh..

They tried to buy nintendo before the GC and Xbox came out. and its not like Nintendo came right out and said NO!

nintendo had even said they gave it serious thought, but figured they could do better buy themselves.

If MS keeps tryin, i believe nintendo will give in sooner or later. and honestly, it would be a pretty smart move for both companies.

Someone is certainly invested in Nintendo.

Actually, all of Nintendo doesn't have to make a decision. Yamauchi still holds the most shares of Nintendo and all he has to do is one day call Mr Gates and say "Heres my Nintendo stock" and then MS will basically own Nintendo. But it was mentioned somewhere else that the Yamauchi family has had its stake in Nintendo for over a century so its unlikely he will sell anyways.

But I think EA and MS need to stop buying companies UNLESS that company is going bankrupt, in the case of Eidos and Acclaim, etc...Just buying random companies doesn't sit well with me unless both sides agree its a good thing. EA is becoming the Microsoft of the gaming industry and Microsoft is already the Microsoft of X thing :p

So they have owned a gaming console for 100+ years ? My hats off to them for their innovative ways back ? through 1904.. Congrats to them.. Again if enough money anyone would sell.

Wow you don't know Nintendo's history. They were (and still are I believe, just not as big anymore) a card company. Until the 1980's or so, they made playing cards, etc...

ROFLMAO.

If I was on battle.net, I'd call you a n00b. :p

Nintendo was founded in... 1889. :)

I personally don't believe that money can buy anything. People have principles and one of them is that they don't want M$ to be the gaming monopolist. :D

This is horrendous, if Nintendo was purchased by another company I would stop playing their games and using their products. If we stopped playing, it would hit them hard and then Nintendo would have to buy themselves back.

It's not just me, it's the entire American nation. Want to know why the majority of old people only drive Oldsmobiles, Cadillacs, and Crown Victorias? It's because they're American made cars and they want to support American workers making them. And they're still angry with our enemies from WWII, so buying a Toyota or Honda or the plethora of other Asian based cars is considered a traiterous, unpatriotic action.

Yea, thats true. Im not sure Id go to as drastic measure as GM as not playing thier games at all, but that would be a sad, sad day indeed. Luckily, it wont happen anytime soon, if it ever does.

Sooooo, americans wouldnt buy a japanese made console because an american company bought them?

ok, past that bit of confusion;
IMO, they'd gain more players then they'd lose if MS bought em.

Ok... but you're a loyal fanboy to a JAPANESE company, so I don't see how that has any relevence to this topic at all.

Say, if you were a true American patriot, wouldn't you be an Xbox fanboy?

EDIT: By the way, if what you say is true, those old people need to beat (just like all old people I guess). Being angry even after 50+ years after a war has ended is idiotic and in no way American patriotism.

This is a pretty funny conversation to read.

If Nintendo was bought out my MS, I would start to play Nintendo games on MS systems. We need to go back to 2 systems on the market, so people like Joeiss can buy both, and enjoy all games, and a reasonable price.

If Microsoft buys Nintendo, everything will go topsy turvy, Tax will be cut! War will be waged! People will marry people of the same sex!! Madness i say, complete and utter madness!!!

I want to buy Nintendo too, i dont make a big hot fuss about it.

Meh. Microsoft are the whiney because this way they get rid of their biggest competition, but Nintendo cannot be sold. You cannot put a price on the smiles of children.

I think Microsoft needs a "Waaaambulance"

Or a Waamburger with cheese.

Nintendo's official response (http://cube.ign.com/articles/536/536275p1.html)

so ya....

I'm all for microsoft and nintendo merging. There's too many awesome first party games that I can't play because there's 3 main consoles.

Nintendo would have unlimited resources to make some badass games. Halo 2 + Metroid on the same system.

Although, those stubborn japanese business men would probably die before letting their company be bought out. They'd probably grab their katanas and KILL BILL.

well aparently if im understanding it all.. i can be a number of reasons.

They are american and have great patriotism, so they only buy if its japanese. if an american company bought them out, its no good.

or... A Nintendo game is the greatest thing in the world. but if its the exact same nintendo game published by Microsoft... IT SUX0rs!@@%@!!!!

Possibly, this could all be a secret conspiricy. Nintendo has secretly hiddon sabliminal messages in thier games. people playing these games are brainwashed into never buying another companies games if something happens to nintendo. I myself am not effected by this because i havnt played a nintendo game in quite a while. When was the last time you played? BEWARE OF PLAYING NINTENDO GAMES!

I've been a Nintendo fan since the days of the NES. So I can't picture myself jumping ship, just doesn't seem right to me.

I think they'd do it just to blackmail MS. But why? Is giving up your favourite Nintendo games worth it?

The same type of people said that Rare was a crappy developer, when they were suddenly bought out by MS. But you never heard them say it before MS bought them.

So you're right, Null, I think if MS bought Nintendo all of the hardcore Nintendo fanboys would start saying it "suxorz".

I've been a Nintendo fan since the days of the NES. So I can't picture myself jumping ship, just doesn't seem right to me.

But you aren't technically jumping ship. You're just going where Nintendo goes. Jumping ship for you, would be like going out and buying a PS2 or Xbox w/o Nintendo games on it. And then saying it was your favourite console... that's jumping ship... I did it once before when I was fed up with the crap Nintendo was putting out on it's systems.

For the record, I never said Rare sucked after the purchase. Hardcore people are the ones who did.

And as for you saying what some people thinking, Nintendo games "suck" if they moved to MS, its not that for me at least. It's just the fact that they sold out to a corporation who will in 20-30 years control everything but the government.

Joeiss

Wow.... Some people look way too much into videogames. lol. Just play games that are good, don't get into specifics.

not really. i heard people complaining about them being 'crappy' before that.... thing is then, the nintendo fans wouldnt admit it....i find the ones devoted to MS are the ones that make up that story more often then not. Show me something rare has done good since N64 and i'll be amazed. because since then Rare has been horrible... when they actually get a game out that is.

The fanboy stories can be made up however you want to look at it....

Nintendo fanboys said rare sucked only after they were bought..... OR...Nintendo fanboys wouldnt admit rare sucked while they were with nintendo.
MS fanboys suddenly stoped saying rare sucked when MS Bought them. OR MS fanboys would just never admit they were good before MS bought them.

A game is a game. who cares who makes them, if its good its good.

No, we didn't HAVE an opinion on Rare before the buyout because there were no games. Only then did we realize, "hey.. they took forever with their games." And when we saw Star Fox Adventure, well..

It's explainable.

By not playing Nintendo games or buying Nintendo products if they were bought by Microsoft, you would be displaying honor and allegiance to Nintendo. But if you did continue to play the games, it would be the same as serving the American side in Vietnam war. We were led there with a false purpose, it was not necessary for us enter battle there. The soldiers fell prey to their own leaders. The REAL reason for Vietnam was for the government to try their newly developed hallucinogens. And guess who the guinea pigs were? American soldiers. And the one of the saddest parts is the hallucinogens weren't even safe. They were created to make the soldiers fight harder, longer, and more fiercer. But it was a double edge, soldiers fought their enemies and each other under the evil effect of the unsafe hallucinogens. If my testament wasn't enough, then let a movie called Jacob's Ladder take you further down the hole of truth.

If you play Nintendo games under Microsoft ownership, you're being a misinformed, deceived soldier. And the punch you take, will be from the fist of a friend.

GM, you are messed. You are comparing video games to a war? A god damned WAR. You know when people ACTUALLY DIE painfully and not the imaginary kiddie deaths that happen in your Super Mario or Legend of Zelda.

If you really take a video game that seriously... uh... what can I say? You need help?

Don't ever compare videogames to war.
