Most of you probably already know this, but I didnt and I found it very cool. I was listening to some new Led Zeppelin songs I downloaded the other day, and I thought I heard him say "Mordor" in "ramble on". So out of curiosity I looked up the lyrics, and low and behold I was correct.

Some of my friends said that quite a few of their songs were based on LotR, so I looked it up and found a couple neat resources.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting, and it has a little more of a solid foundation than the whole "play stairway backwards" thing.

"How years ago in days of old
When magic filled the air,
T’was in the darkest depths of mordor
I met a girl so fair,
But gollum, and the evil one crept up
And slipped away with her."

And you think they just named the song "Misty Mountain Hop" out of luck?

Led Zeppelin did use the Lord of the Rings theme every once in a while. I suppose it was hard not to do. Considering all the weed they were smoking and whatnot...

The Lord of the Rings is an awesome book, and I'm happy that Zeppelin used themes from it in their music.

If you really want to get weird, you should check out Blind Guardian's "Nightfall In Middle-Earth."

It's a 22-song concept album based around J.R.R. Tolkien's work, 'Night Fall In Middle Earth.' (Blind Guardian is a metal band)

Wtf. I never said anything about luck or coincidence. I just didnt know that Led Zepplin used LotR in some of their songs, and I was posting some references for anyone else who may not know.

I wasnt saying they accidently referred to LotR....

I know. I was merely supporting you by pointing out a song that Led Zeppelin wrote that has a tie to Lord Of The Rings. Don't go all crazy.

that's pretty cool, I never knew that. Of course, I'm not good at paying much attention to lyrics

That is pretty interesting, and Vampyr told me about this about two days ago. I guess I should have realized it with Misty Mountain Top.
