For years and years weve heard a big lovable bear tell us only we can prevent forest fires. Then the bear went into retirement.

No this has nothing to do with the bear.

But as of last night in British Columbia there were 388 forest fires.

Ok, now im not fire-genious, but 388 fires seems like a tad much to me.

And i heard that most of these fires have been started by stupid people throwing cigarette butts out the window, or people violating camping laws ( no fires in dry seasons)

Im sure a few of them have been started by lighting....im not sure where, because BC has barely had rain in the past while.

But what are your thoughts and opinions.

I've seen some ads emphasizing the need to keep your matches in your match-book. But, if you're the type of lazy person to start a forest fire... you're the type of lazy person to not listen to a commercial.

Unnaturally enduced forest fires are awful. I love the trees. What we need are snipers at every post.

"Hey, that guy dropped a smoke... ... smoke him" "AY CAP!" ... -bang bang- In runs the fire extinguish patrol to drown that ... unlit cigarette! It was worth it.

Ya, yesterday was really smokey where I was working. Not as bad as last year. I couldn't see across Okanagan Lake cuz of the fire.
