is there a specific reason for a laptop? because on average desktops are a better buy unless you absolutly need to carry them around. you could get a desktop much more powerful at half that price.

i dont think thats going to be a greatone for gaming, it prolly has an intigrated graphics, and laptops (if they can be, which many times it cant.) are a pain to upgrade.

and prolly keep clear of compaq.

For $1400, its not too bad of a laptop for what you want it to do. You can keep the desktop as a backup just in case something happens to the laptop and you need do to something. (maybe do a weekly backup of your stuff from laptop to desktop just in case)

As for gaming, it depends on what video card it has and what games you typically play. Post what video card it has or just post a direct link to where you saw it.

But other then that, for $1400, its a good price for what you posted. With what you want to do, it should be fine.

well one of the main reasons is my room is getting so crowded and it's so small as it is i can't fit my desktop anymore. Also i plan to use it in my school's wireless network during the school year.

Oh and the laptop comes with a Nvidia 64mb GeForce Go. Which should cater to my light gaming

Yeah, that card is good for light gaming. Can't do really extensive 3d gaming but light gaming will work.
