Dog mauls baby to death

Stupid dog. There have been many threads about attacks on dogs, but how about when dogs attack humans? This is bull****.

Jordan Lee Parker died of massive head injuries at the family's home, said Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss.

The pit bull, which had no history of aggressive behavior, had been tussling with another pet, a smaller terrier, when it attacked the boy, Kerss said.

He said the boy's grandmother was trying to separate the animals when the dog grabbed the child by the head.

Kerss said the dog freed the child within seconds, but he was dead by the time authorities arrived.

``Perhaps the child either reached up and grabbed the hair of the dog's neck or an ear, or anything like that that the dog may have taken as being an attack from the other dog,'' the sheriff said.

Family members told authorities the pit bull had lived with them for 14 years without incident.

Kerss said the grandmother requested that the pit bull be euthanized, and the dog was taken to an animal shelter.

In defence of the dog, I'd also like to say that the parents should have been more closely watching the baby. Since babies don't know how to act around animals, it's probably not a good idea to just let him freely be situated near two dogs.

The baby might have been small enough to seem like another dog to the pitbull, so when the baby grabbed it, it migh have been defending itself.

And having a history of aggresive behaviour means nothing, animals are animals, they will be violent, its what they do, especially a pitbull.



EDIT: If you put a baby next to an angry pitbull, what do you expect to happen?

Wow you really don't like babies. Who can blame you though. They grow up and pollute the planet. Pitbulls scare the living **** (yes its alive) out of me!

One of my neighbors down the street lets their Pit out without a leash. Everytime I walk by their house to get to the Basketball courts, the Pit Madd doggs me and always seems right about to start running towards me until the owner calls it back. One of these days I'm going to get attacked :)

this doesn't suprise me at all... i had a "Great Uncle once removed" who was attacked by a pitbull that had lived with him for like EVER and had never shown any signs of agression. It tore his legs off!!!!

I feel really bad for the babies family, I'd think if a dog of mine killed one of my kids I'd punt that thing off a bridge.

This is tragic. But as always, the people could have prevented it, not the dog. :(
