I just think its kinda of ironic just how wrong everyone was. Sportswriters, Cub fans, ect. Now I know the seasons just barely over half over, but 8 games is 8 games, I dont care how soon or how late. Lets look at some numbers.

The Cardinals have won 8 straight games, and they have won 15 of of their last 18 games.

The Cubs are 8-31 at Busch stadium since I believe 2000.

The Cardinals have the best record in baseball.

The Cardinal pitchers have the 3rd best ERA in the National League, the Cubs have the second best. That tells me something about the Cubs run support, which is exactly why they wont win. That and the sloppy defense.

Anyways, the Cubs had thier chance last year, and they blew it in traditional Cubs style. What you have on paper means nothing, your still the Chicago Cubs.

Cardinals are 10 games up now, just for the record. You can see just how frustrated the entire Cubs team is...Hawkins threw a tantram today like ive never seen. He just kept it up and kept it up for what seemed like forever, while 5 guys were holding him back...absolutley ridiculous...that combined with Zambrano's crazy antics last night...the whole team is just so pissed off, but its understandable...they are playing like crap, when its suppoused be their year. I mean sure, theres still a lot of baseball to be played, but 10 games is a whole lot to be behind, and it would be near impossible, IMO, to come back from that many games behind. I guess theres always the wild card, but the way thier playing, thats looking bad right now as well.

Who else is in the running for the wild card in the NL? I guess a lot of the teams from the East Division. I haven't been keeping up with baseball much this year. *checks mlb.com*

Edit: Ahh...wow..here are all the teams who have a chance at the wild card.

Dodgers, Braves, Giants, Padres, Reds, Cubs, Phillies, Marlins, Mets, and Brewers. Houston, and Pittsburgh maybe...but not likely. Of course two of those seven teams will win their division, but it's very very close.

IMO only the Expos, Dbacks, Rockies and Pirates are out of the wild card at this point.

Houston is getting close to being out of it though.

I hope that the Phillies win the division this year because I'm sick of Atlanta going to the playoffs. They always lose in the World Series or the NLCS, so why should they get to go each year? The Phillies are tied for first now, but they are probably going to fall back as usual. My biggest upset though is that Seattle really sucks this year. They had their chances, but they never could beat the Yankees in the ALCS. *waves Phillies flag* Go Phillies!

I also hate Atlanta. Im for just about anyone who can beat them.

Continuing on.

Clearly it's St. Louis' year.

WC, here we come (I hope, Cubs need a leadoff hitter)

In other baseball musing, I've been flipping through http://www.baseball-almanac.com/ and I was looking at some rosters.

Take a look at the 96' Indians

LOOK AT THAT TEAM!

How the hell did they fail to win the World Series?

Wow, a lot of names stuck out to me. Let's see..

Well the only pitcher I recognize is Charles Nagy, but then there is Sandy Alomar Jr., Carlos Baerga, Jeff Kent, Jim Thome, José Vizcaíno, Omar Vizquel, Albert Belle, Jeremy Burnitz, Kenny Lofton, Manny Ramírez, and Eddie Murray..
