I haven't gotten the e-mail yet... I'm sure this has nothing to do with Gmail.

Hotmail = Bad setup, spamtastic, and full of ads

Gmail = No spam, no ads, clean look

I'll keep the gekko-mail account.

1000MB, not 1GB :D i know i know, im just being a smart ass. but its true :p hehehe

and i think it has a bit more to do with yahoo, yahoo upgraded thiers i thought to 100mb. hence why hotmail uped it to 250mb.

gmail is yahoo's/googles beta one, hotmail is going to have to take a BIG step to compete with gmail once gmail is open to everyone.

I read about this a month ago or so. It's cool. But Hotmail really doesn't work for me. You sign up for an email address and they sell it; seriously. I'll sign up for a Hotmail account, and within minutes I've recieved several spam emails. With GMail I haven't recieved a single piece of spam.

It's an improvement, but not enough. GMail is the way to go for webmail in my book.

Gmail has ads but they arent as big or intrusive as Yahoo does

We don't use Gmail, but it is safe to assume that the ad matching is no better in Gmail

That's like saying "I don't like that food because it looks bad" before you even take a bite from it.

And I'll reiterate this again and again...Your not being forced to use Gmail. If you don't like a remote computer using just keywords to put a NON-INTRUSIVE ad on the right side, then go use Yahoo or Hotmail. Don't piddle ass around complaining about Gmail. Go to Yahoo, Hotmail, or your ISP's email.

I also got that email the other day. I was fairly shocked. And very happy, because I dont want to change my email address and now I wont have to.

the one and only reason i don't want a gmail account is because i don't feel like changing anything. as in, i don't want to tell everybody to email me at that account when everybody on my msn list is allready used to my current email. besides, i barely use email at all, 98% of the time i check my mail, the other 2% i send emails.

so like i said, i'm pretty happy with the way things are going with hotmail.

Stop trying to stir up trouble, you know just as well as the rest of us that Gmail is safe and friendly.

Unless it's Windows only, I don't see a single ad.

Nor have I. All of this anti-Gmail talk is absurd; all that I've seen has been made by those that have yet to use Gmail. If you want to reasonably dispute Gmail you should at least try it for yourself instead of linking to anti-Gmail stuff (also written by people who have yet to use it). Honestly; most of these arguements they pose can be applied to any webmail account.

Is there any more news to this? I usually delete without reading the Hotmail anouncements. I still have 2 Mb storage and 1 Mb attachement. The most I'm excitet about the attachement capacity. I have a lot of things I need to share with people on other e-mail acounts and we don't have time to chat and share files so I have to do it trough e-mail and it's a haslle with the 1Mb capacity. Now that they can keep more e-mails with larger attachements I'm looking forward to the upgrade to do this more easily.

P.S. No I'm not sharing mp3 or other (illegal stuff) it's for my work.
