DC++ is a file sharing network that uses hubs to connect users. I was thinking if we can setup a private hub allowing GameTavern members to exchange stuff without the ridiculously high share requirments, and no outsiders could access the hub.

If anybody has the resources to setup a hub, that would be awesome! I tried creating a hub awhile back, but failed miserbaly. Maybe somebody could give this a shot?

What resources do you need?

And how hard is it to make one?

I used to use DC++, but now that I have BT and SoulSeek.. don't really need it anymore.

I only use DC++ at college because they got a special hub where you gotta be on a college campus to use so you always get insanely high speeds. Download movies at 3MB/s.

But I'd definitly be in for a GT one...gotta require registration so only GT people can use. Probably look at their site info.

We need a server PC. Could anyone run the hub software 24/7 on a computer? Something like that

What would we share?

I use dc++ for some audio hubs to get live shows and stuff.

I share music, tv shows, various other videos, as well as some manga and comics. I don't share movies since I know too many people who got caught like that.

I'd like to share music.

Music, movies, apps, pics, the whole 9 yards.

I just want to setup a nice place for all of us to share media freely, without trouble and disturbance from others. A private hub is the way to go these days.

We did this at AGB for a while. It worked out great...then it stopped.

But yes, we had a lot of the more popular games on there. A lot of the seasons for the simpsons, futurama, family guy, etc.
Recently released movies and music that was randomly added.

Made for a rather convenient file source.

We also used it for picture hosting.
