Click on the URL below and look at the screenshots of Mario Sunshine put in rapid succession.
Pay close attention to the meters, and their alignment.

Thanks to BAB for the URL
uh, why would any of that mean they're fake or not?

Because the meters would be in the same place if they were real..

The screenshots were all resized from those first big ones so the alignment would be a little off. Or the shots taken might have just been done weird. They aren't fake.

hmm... also good point...
:hmm:
meh I don't really care *shrugs* :D
I don't see the big deal if they're fake or not... if they're real, oh well, the early version of the game looks kinda blah... if they are fake, then... they're fake :D

I know the guy who did that GIF image Shooter posted. He also said this:
http://www.gamingutopia.com/kong/sunshine2.jpg
First look on the left. I put a white line, that line will be known as "A". Basiclly, anything to the left of line A, is not original. The most obvious point, is circle 2, where the mountain just juts off, and then continues at a higher point. Circle 3 is some pretty bad editing also. These pipes and things in Circle 3 were added (if you look at the original without the line and circle, it's very obvious). Also notice how the line barely clears the coin counter, yet extends it just enough to match the resolution of the other pictures. There is also a more subtle line on the right side, the only realy obvious place you can tell is the clouds. Kamek, I had not even read your post until now so you got it right. Image doubling. Take a look at circles 4 and 5. The birds seems to be doubled, but more obviously, the water pack is DEFFINITELY doubled. I really have no explination for this, and it could be contributed to a bad capture except for one thing. Look in the top left corner of circle 6. If it was doubling, bother the top and bottom "layer" of the water pack would be identical. However, it seems as if part of the squid is in front of the bottom layer of the water pack, yet behind the top one. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. That alone leads me to believe this whole picture may not be what it started out as.
I don't understand some of it, but the mountains on the left side of the screenshot and the doubling of the water gun worry me. Maybe Nintendo just has a really bad screen capturing device. But if their screen capturing device is bad enough to actually double some images, who knows whether it can't also wash out colors and textures? I'm no techie, so maybe I have it all wrong. Still, there's something fishy going on with that picture.
Oh yeah, and if the GIF image Shooter posted is faulty because of a resizing issue, then why is the coin meter staying still while the other meters jump around?

But it wasn't Nintendo who captured the screenshot? Wasn't done by an amateur from the video Miyamoto displayed in Europe?
I'm beginning to find it very annoying that people feel so strongly that these pics are fake because they're not up to par with what they saw at SpaceWorld. Remember the change Zelda went through and everyone thought they were fake?
Personally, I think they are fake. I may very well be wrong, but I don't think they are real at all, I've thought that since I first saw them.
For one, why would Nintendo change the meters? They looked pretty cool on the SW video, theys just look like pooh. Also, there is the doubling thing and the meters being off. There are also other subtle differences, but that would get technical and whatnot. These 3 images could have very easily been created in a 3D prog and Photoshop if a person had any experience with them and a lil bit of time and inginuity. They really aren't all that difficult of models to make. Although, I'd like to give props to the person who made 'em. Tricked a lot of ppl.
But I have heard that MS is one of the best looking games on GC. These pics certainly don't show that. I mean come one, the movie from 6 months ago looked better. Graphics don't get worse in 6 months.

Has anyone thought about actually emailing Nintendo and ask them?

My theory:
The Mario Sunshine movie was never supposed to be released on the internet anyway. Nintendo specifically asked people not to record it. Of course, IGN among others went ahead and recorded the video, so that was a rather futile and naïve gesture on Nintendo's part.
Anyway, these most recent shots are ones that Nintendo intended to release at this time anyway on a public which hadn't seen the Spaceworld movie. And since they want to surprise everybody at E3, they show a really early build of the game.
Why they would continue on this course after knowing that the Spaceworld video was released is beyond me, but it makes a certain amount of sense.

There are three screenshots from Mario Sunshine floating about the web. There is some speculation that these screenshots may be fake. Can you comfirm if these are indeed real?

Probably end up getting an advertisement to subscribe to Nintendo Power without my question being answered.

Honesty they suck...
But there is no way the final product will look this bad, cause if it does Nintendo sucks plain and simple.

The water meter never changes! And thus, my suspicion of scandal is renewed like a library book I haven't finished...

Exactly. I think the best approach is to acknowledge these pics are horrible and just hope the final product won't be so horrible. And if they do turn out to be the final product, then Nintendo sucks.
I know graphics aren't everything, but if they really make it that bad then they deserve to be called of the suck for simply not living up remotely to their previously released games.
