Purcellville, VA - June 7, 2004 - Infinite Ventures, Inc., handheld game developer and publisher, today announced plans to produce its award-winning series of graphic adventure games including "Shadowgate(R) Classic," for QUALCOMM's BREW solution. The series also includes the detective mysteries "Déjà Vu(R): A Nightmare Comes True" and "Déjà Vu II: Lost in Las Vegas," and the gothic horror tale "Uninvited(R)."
"Shadowgate Classic" will launch the series in the fall of this year, immersing players into a compelling world of devious puzzles, fantastic beasts and heroic challenges. The game fully utilizes the color graphics capabilities of BREW-enabled phones, with full screen images allowing the player to explore the mysterious interior of Castle Shadowgate. The innovative "point and select" user interface ensures the mobile phone player can focus on solving the game's puzzles.
"We're excited to bring our adventure games to QUALCOMM's BREW solution," said Eugene Evans, president, Infinite Ventures. "We believe that players will embrace the adventure gaming genre, as it is perfect for mobile phone play. Whenever users have downtime they can use their phone to return to solving the latest puzzle. The result is many hours of challenging exploration and a depth of game play previously unavailable on mobile phones."
"We're very pleased to see Infinite Ventures bring these robust and graphically rich adventure games to the BREW marketplace," said Mike Yuen, director of BREW Developer Relations for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "We believe that the BREW solution's ability to support feature-rich applications, such as Infinite Ventures' games, not only enhances the player experience, but will help grow the wireless entertainment market."
Since these adventure games were made available on almost every possible computer, video game, and handheld platform since their first appearance in 1985, the series has sold over 2,000,000 copies. They are recognized for their innovative design and as the games that defined the now de facto "point and click" style of adventure game play.
QUALCOMM's BREW solution provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes publishers, application developers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.
Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based applications and content, and 26 manufacturers have offered more than 135 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. BREW is successfully enabling the commercial wireless data services of many successful operators, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular One, MetroPCS, Midwest Wireless, NTELOS and U.S. Cellular in the United States, China Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutch in Thailand, Telstra in Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth Chile, BellSouth Colombia, BellSouth Ecuador, BellSouth Guatemala, BellSouth Nicaragua, BellSouth Panama, BellSouth Peru, Telefónica Móviles in Peru, Movicom in Argentina, Telcel and Movilnet in Venezuela, Verizon Dominican Republic, Verizon Wireless Puerto Rico, Pelephone in Israel and Zapp in Romania.
