Well what do you know. My step-dad is quitting his job with the apartment complex we live at (he's a co-groundskeeper type person). He said I could probably replace him. It pays fairly well (better than what I'd be getting at a fast food place) and apparently not too hard of work.
Groovy.

Can you tell me how much it pays, and if you have time, post a picture of your complex?

Why, I do have a sibling! He's thirteen :p
And my step-dad said that he's paid $7.50 an hour and works around 20 hours a week. Not too bad. Better than my last job.

I refuse to work fast food. The thought makes me head cringe.
Same. It goes against my values and it's a ****ty job with ****ty pay.
Wow, you may have to work your way up... the horrors.

Listen, I'm not trying to fly off here...
But I hate people who are too thick headed to realize, a job is a job and if you're under 18 Fast Food is about all you can work.
What else are you going to do with your time?
Sure if a job that pays more, and is easier happens to just come along, take it, but until then work the fast food. It's really not that bad.
It's money you didn't have before, and it really helped to buy krap I didn't have with the extra $200 or so a week, you know added onto all that other money I was pulling in. *Gives a sarcastic sigh*

I have nothing against anyone of any age who works at a fast food restaurant. A job is a job. Someone has to do it.

But the thing is some people find it degrading in some way. I know i will almost never work at a fast food place, because thats where all of my siblings had jobs at, and i just dont want to. True a job is a job, but a s***** job is still a s***** job.

You think I'm 'thick' because I won't support a fast food chain by working there? For me it's a matter of principles. I'm trying not to live a double standard life.
And there's plenty of jobs around that aren't provided by large greedy chains.
And if there was no other work around, then I'd think up of something to make money on my own. Don't be a dick.

I really don't think there's anything worse than working at a full serve gas station. You get bitchy old ladies who complain about gas prices. You have people who couldn't park on the right side of the pumps even if their life depended on it. You have people who think you have the time to all this **** like check oil, trans fluid, power steering, wash ALL THEIR WINDOWS, when you a bunch of other cars to deal with.
Personally I'd rather stand at a cash register or fry burgers all day. But that's just me.
The only good thing is that my cousin is the manager, so I can basically tell a customer to **** off if I want to (which I've already done). Plus I make above minimum wage. But if I was paid student wages for this I'd have quitted already.
But good luck on finding a job.

Ben and Jerry's has some of the same problems... Drinks... take more time to make... And as it gets closer to summer, more and more people are wanting them... And it's even worse when they say "I guess I'll just get a *whatever drink*", because no drink is a "just" (save maybe for milkshakes, unless the ice cream is extremely hard), especially with our pain in the ass blender... And especially when you have a line going out the door and down the stairs and you're trying to get people in, out, and on with their life...
Then you also get people who are with a big group that decide to give you their whole order at once, as if telling me 5 different items (drinks, our long and confusing ice cream names that people don't even get right half the time even though they're written out for them, small, medium, large, cup or cone, waffle cone or sugar cone, one, two, or three scoops, toppings) at once is going to magically make me get it all together faster (especially since I stop and give them finished items one at a time) and NOT confuse me and make me have to say "Sorry, what was the next thing?" and have them get in a "God weren't you listening the first time?" mood...
GOD!!!

I'm a data entry person this summer. It will be boring, but I'll be making some pretty good money.
