This thread is here for the discussion of what alcohols you think go well with certain foods.

I'll start:

pina coladas and tortilla chips

I do not like consuming alcohol when I am eating....

But the only time I do it is when I eat wings at the bar... Molson Canadian goes does great with it.

what is carne asada? (my spanish is a little rusty)

Carne asada = Grilled beef I believe. Often fajita beef tacos are considered carne asada.

As for the topic,

Beer and any salty snack..

Eddie: Looks like there's beer coming out of the chimney!
Wiggum: [gets out of the car] I am proceeding on foot. Call in a Code 8.
Eddie: [into radio] We need pretzels. Repeat, pretzels.

I think I prefer Coke for meals that most people would drink beer for. Anything spicy I need a coke, or iced tea or something like that.

However, burger and beer equals quite a treat.

I can't afford good alcohol so it's hard to know what alcohol goes good with food for me.

Forties are my favorite form of drinking. It feels like a competition to get it down everytime, just because you have about five beers worth in just one bottle instead of five. I dunno, it's hard to explain, except that I'm a lush.

Ides and OE. High gravity if it can be found.. :sneaky:

Carne Asada is tiny, little bits of grilled beef on mexican tacos, or its a 1/4" steak. To the american public this is just called Thin Beef or Thin Meat.

I just have to take a step back and say:

BLECH! Both Wine and Beer are gross.

It's Tequila for me. Vodka is ok.

Liqour, it gets me drunk, and if you chase it with the appropriate non-alcoholic beverage, it's like you can't even taste it!

You turn your nose up at wine and beer, but then you prefer tequila? You truly are a lush.

Especially considering this is about drinks and food.. :sneaky:

Tequila is dirrrttyy... lol...

I drank a lot of tequila and vodka one night many years ago... Was not a fun night, I'll tell you that, lol.

Tequila is like that guy that gets everyone kicked out of the party. Except everyone is all the food you have recently consumed. And the party is your stomache. Tequila can be fine if im not the one drinking it. As i will say again, Vodka is the way for me. :D :D

1st of all, I prefer wine to beer.
Wine is good with bread and cheese....
Beer is good with crisps, cheese... euh...

I don't really combine them very often. :-o

You guys are mashing all kinds of beer together and ALL kinds of wine together... you horrid sinners... :P

White wines I like with fish, and friut.
Sweeter red wines (light Merlots for example) are good with chocolate, and some meats (though I'm not a meat fan)
And heavier wines I prefer alone.

Beer=totilla chips

and mudslides by themselves...
long island's by themselves too :)

Wait, but so did you.. :sneaky:

There are more types of wine, such as dessert wines, which itself is a term for a whole host of other types of wine (port, sherry, and many more).

And then beer..

...

Sarcasm must be lost on me.

I had a triple beer yesterday. Dunno if it's called that in English... It's a very brown beer.

Yeah, there are many more types of wine, but truth be told, I didn't feel like going all the way into it, and indeed yes, the sarcasm was lost on you.

I only usually have wine at holidays, like Thanksgivings day, or Christmas, other than that to me it feels out of place. But beer, i pretty much have one in any day that ends in "y", or starts with a consonant.

But Vodka is another story, i usually only have a 4 pack of smirnoff every weekend. But the summer is coming up, so i'll have ALOT more free time.

(The only thing Keriann is good for is booting for Vodka)

How often do you? That's nice.
I have
a collection of gossip.
?Huh.
Not many people express themselves that way.
And.
I think Vodka is a lot of things.
Interesting.
Is that a fact. There might be others.

Franzia boxed wine is how we do down here in the south states. I'm not too clear on what's "good" up in the north states, but since you're here, Joeiss, what's the good brand of boxed wine up in Canada?

First time we bought Franzia, my good friend bought the "Chillable Red" flavor. Only he thought that 'Chillable' must be some fancy French word, so he brought it back to drink and kept pronouncing it CHIH-LAHB-LAH Red.

So we all started calling it that because he kept saying it and none of us guessed differently.

Took us a little while to figure out how dumb we are.. :sneaky:

You got very sick because:

A.) you mixed a light liqour with a dark one

and

B.) You probably drank too much anyway!

Yes...

I am a lush.

I definitely drank way too much, in a small period of time too.

and manasecret, the stuff I buy is just called Dry House Wine, lol. Its White, not red...

Do you guys pour it into glasses? Or drink it how I do?

Well, all I can say is I am never going to consume ANY amounts of alcohol, ever. As in, never ever ever.

Ahh, Dry House Wine, what a generic name. That's how you know it's good.

We drink it however it works best at the time, often your way. If I'm mooching off someone else, I'll generally take a glass in order to be classy..

Naw, when we get it, its communal. Everybody takes turns at the fun. It brings us all together. It's really nice.

manasecret
06-12-2004, 11:00 PM
That's when drinking is the best. Everyone coming together to share in the warmth, that's what it's all about.

That's kinda how we are with forties. Whenever we get them we get some for everyone and everyone comes together to get that awful **** down.. :)

Typhoid

yup, exactly. Booze brings people together better than Oprah ever could.

It has some sort of communal effect with it, when your sitting with a guy you dont like and want to kill, well, as implied, you want to kill him. BUT, if he hands you some booze, hes your buddy for the night. Wierd how things can unfold.
