*edit The title should read 'Venus Interest Explodes!'
*edit2 Sorry, the real title should read 'Venus Interest Explodes!..oh Wait,False Alarm.Rare Solar Event and Still No One Cares.'
Anyway, considering most of North America will have trouble seeing the Venus transit across the sun, here's a webcam link.

It's a long night but well worth it. Just grab a few beers and do a Venus dance around a fire or something..

Sorry, I usually assume everyone is aware enough to know when such rare events happen.
But you can still see a lot of better pictures (and some movies) here.

EDIT:
Wow, those movies from that website are incredible. Here's some direct links:
(I recommend right-clicking and save-as, they take a little while)

http://vestige.lmsal.com/TRACE/transits/venus_2004/movies/UV1600_eastlimb.mov
You can get all those from the website above.
These are all photos taken from the TRACE telescope that orbits the Earth. It's been used for many many other scientific missions (and also recorded the Mercury transit May of last year).
It has all the different colored pictures because it takes photo measurements of the sun in different wavelengths (some invisible to the human eye), and then adds colors to them to make them distinct from each other I suppose.

I too, feel similar to happydude. I'd also like to sarcastically thank space programs across our nation for not spreading the news to the public better.

i Would have totally watched it if i knew...
I tried to edit in your full title, but there wasn't enough space.. :( It would have been "Venus Interest Explodes! ..oh Wait, False Alarm. Rare Solar Event and Still No One Care" without the S.

I'm not sure if I would like to try to edit in your full title but there was not enough space . What's it like?Tell me more about it.That's alright.
I'm waiting. When do you think artificial intelligence will replace lawyers?
Do you like talking to me?
I love talking to you Camfubot.

Thanks!
But really I was being sarcastic about both edits. Of course you had no way of knowing that; you probably would have caught it if I didn't have to edit the post for real for something else.

Well I wanted to edit it for fun since there's no real relevance to the topic anymore now that the event is over. ;)
