View Full Version : My high school concert band playing FF9 music? OMGWTF.
Spread the word! I want some opinions on this.
I'm really easy to spot. I'm walking as the movie starts, and I sit down and bring up my Tuba. I'm easy to pick out when we play; I'm the lowest voice in the band. I'm debating whether or not to get this out to Mr. Uematsu himself because this is pretty big. :)
But for now.. all you GTers.. Enjoy!

I can wait. I am a very patient robot.I'm glad you find this amusing.
Oh Camfubot. He IS a patient robot.
Next on list would have been Zelda but we're packing up for the year. I may record some tunes with my sax during the summer though.

Final Fantasy 9 has the best soundtrack. You could do an entire concert out of FF9 music. And you SHOULD do it.
I love Final Fantasy 9. :)

Hmm, that's interesting, you're doing FF9 music. Well, for marching band next year, my band is doing The Doors, which is ****ing awesome. We're doing Light My Fire, Touch Me, and Peace Frog/Love Her Madly as one song togther, but with a good transition. It's really well written, and since I play bari sax I get the bass liine. Hmm, the low brass section will have 5 Tubas, 3 Bari Saxes, 5 Tenor Saxes, 4 Baritones, and 7 Trombones. I think I might be section leader as well. Marching band will be great next year. Anyway, I hope we get to play something like that for concert band. We did, however, play the Lord of the Rings theme for the winter concert, and the Harry Potter Suite for the Spring concert, which was interesting as well.
Nice. Our junior band played "The Best of Queen" but I didn't get a recording of that.

Who decided to do the music? Was it up to the music teacher? And yes, i say you should send it to him.
It was my friend Zidanet and myself. We found an arrangement online, printed it out, showed it to our teacher and thought it would be a nice warmup. I didn't know we were performing it until a couple of days ago so I had to think of a little introduction for it. When I was introducing it I did notice a couple of girls in the audience who reacted like "Hey! I played that!" :)

That's cool, and what a cool teacher to allow you guys to play video game music. Sounds great! :)

I personally believe that our music teacher let us play that simply for its "interesting" rhythms..... I mean, those 16th-notes are friggin' hard to play when they're almost randomly connected. <_<
But then yeah, I could always grab some Zelda music and give it to him and see if he'll let the band play it. :P
(Oh yeah, the Junior Band played a song called "Rockman".... Dyne and I were like "Wtf?")
I wasn't like "Wtf?"; I was more like "Whoa snap, Locku-man!"
