Bored... figured I'd make some kind of interesting topic. Not sure if we've had this before.

This is me:

Dad's Side: All French. He was born in Quebec, as were his parents, as were their parents, etc etc until it leads up to someone who immgrated from France. My Dad says his family line may have come here in the early 19th century (1800s).

The Family name: Lafrenière (including this is optional).

Mom's Side: Her mother is French, but her Dad is Scot/Irish. His last name was McCollough.

So you could say that I am 3/4 French, 1/4 Scot/Irish. There may be others but they would have been way too far back in the blood line to figure out.

And what about you?

I know for some people it may be hard because you have an extreme mix of ethnic backgrounds, but your last name will always tell some of what you have in you.

This is tough for me... cause my mom has been remarried and i don't know anything about my real father.

My mom's family has been in the US for a really long time so there is not much about ethnic background. Her dad is from Texas which makes us believe the family owned slaves way back in time which leads me to believe that his family came here some time in colony stages. My mom's mother came from a farm in Kansas but based on her name I think the family was English (way back in time).

On my dad's side, its mainly German. I think maybe my dad's Grandfather might have been from Germany, or maybe his great grandfther, making him my great great grandfather.

On my mom's side it gets a little more interesting. My great grandma on my mom's side was actually from Italy, so theres definatly some italian in me. And my Great Grandpa was from Poland. So polish too.

so for me its Polish, German, Italian.

My Father's father immigrated from Norway, he brought with him my family name, Larsen, but it was changed at immigration, and we had the choice of being Larson or Goodmanson. We chose Larson. When I have some free time, I'm legally changing it back for fun. (Probably in the next five years.)

My father's mother was from Regina in the Praries of Canada, and was a WASP, family name Grainger. So basically British Scottish, but I abbreviate and say UKish.

My mother's father came over from German relatives who lived in Poland; MIGHT be something else in there, but we just think it's German. He was held in a camp by the Nazis at one point. I can't say the name here because it's not a good idea to let people know your mother's maiden name.

My mother's mother is straight German. Relatives fought for Hitler's army, too. I met one of them.

And there you have it.

1/2 German, 1/4 Norwegian, 1/8 UK

My Dad is Ukrainian/Russian and that's basically what I look like :D

My Mom is Armenian from Iran but she looks white too. It's weird, we don't look anything like most Armenians.

Most Armenians today are less white due to breeding with neighbouring nationalities such as the Turks, Persians, and Arabs. "Natural" Armenians are white, maybe your ancestors just never had kids with non-Armenians.

I am pretty much for the most part, one of the first canadians ( decent wise) because my family was french ( dads side) and they fled France from some war, and came to colonize the "new world" way way before Canada was a country. So its the frech's natural tendancy to flee from danger that my family on my dads side was one of the first people to colonize Canada.....(Im pretty sure its still there, but there was a city in Michigan or something around there that was founded by my frech family called 'Rappinville"....no lie....it might not be a city anymore though)

And my moms side is mostly Ukranian, and her family ( not directly) came to Winnipeg the year Canada was a country.

But all in all besides the Canadian, these are the so called "bloods" i have running through my veins:

Canadian (mom+dad)
Indian ( dads)
Manx ( dads )
French ( dads)
Ukranian ( moms)
Polish...barely (moms)
theres one more....i think its Sweedish, i dont know exactly what it is, but i know its from my moms side.

Typhoid: Indian as in Native American or India as from India? And it's pretty cool that your French ancestors came from so long ago, mine are more recent than yours (well, thats the speculation of my Father).

I'm 50% ukrainian(father's side is all ukraine), 25% italian(my mother's dad) and 25% slovak(my mom's mom)

My last name is Scottish or Irish...one of the two. Besides that, I'm pretty mixed up with about everything. Some British, some German, etc. I'm American :D

The earliest ancestor I know of (which doesn't mean much) is General Edward Braddock (my great grandma was Dorothy Braddock) who was in the British Army during the French and Indian War. Died there, too. He knew Geroge Washington ^_^ Refused Washington's council ^_^ Died because of it ^_^ Washington wrote a letter to his wife about it ^_^

I'm mostly German. Probably about 2/3's. Then Scottish and Argentinian/Brazillian.

My dad's side were living in Western Russia at the time. They had moved there a few years earlier. Then the Bolshivick(sp?) revolution broke out or something and they fled to Brazil.

My name is Joe, and I AM CANADIAN.

There's no such thing as being of Canadian decent, much like there is no such thing as being of American decent (unless your Native American). We're colonies, meaning we were founded by other ethnicities.

I'm Scott Irish and German.

Naw, I'm Canadian.

My background is Ukrainian... But I only eat the foods, don't do anything else, lol.

There is still a Canadian identity. It definitely is not finalized, but Canada is slowly but surely gaining one. There, I am Canadian.

.

There is too such thing as being of Canadian or American decent.

As i said below, my family came here to colonize canada before it was a country, so therefore ever since it has been called "Canada" my family has lived here. The Native Americans never lived in "Canada" or " America" by name, but only by land. So if anything, they are North American IMO.

Just because your a colony, that doesnt mean you cant be that. thee are Australian decent people, but Australia was a prison colony of England.

IMO anyways.

But your Canadian ancestors were French (or whatever the case may be). Therefore, you're also French.

And there are "Natives" in Austrailia, too, btw. So someone from "Austrailian" descent doesnt mean they are what you think they are.

My mom is Norwegian-German and my dad is Scotch-Irish-German I think. All I know is my dad's side drinks hard and my mom's side laments while supressing everything.

That's probably why I'm an English major...
