A very interesting thing I've noticed is that when Bush says something dumb they call it a Bushism. But if anyone else spoke like him they'd call them a moron.

Anyhow, here are some of my favorite Bushisms.

"They misunderestimated me."

"We need an energy bill that encourages consumption."

"I have learned from mistakes I may or may not have made."

"I think there is some methodology in my travels."

"It's your money. You paid for it."

"I understand small business growth. I was one."

"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family."

"The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country."

"I think we ought to raise the age at which juveniles can have a gun."

"We cannot let terrorists and rogue nations hold this nation hostile or hold our allies hostile.''

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"I mean, there needs to be a wholesale effort against racial profiling, which is illiterate children."

"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"

"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure."

"The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century."

"One word sums up probably the responsibility of any Governor, and that one word is 'to be prepared'."

"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls."

"Illegitimacy is something we should talk about in terms of not having it."

"For NASA, space is still a high priority."

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

"[It's] time for the human race to enter the solar system."

Funny stuff.

My favorite is still

"There's an old saying in Tennessee. I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee. It says fool me once... shame on... uh... shame on... you. Fool me can't get fooled again!"

- G. W. Bush

People voted for him?!?! I think it was actually tied in votes...but the people who decide, decided that he would be the most amusing while trying to give speeches and whatnot. Plus Al Gore is just plain boring.

Bringing up the past bush quotes thing:

These quotes were actually said by Dan Quayle, not george w. bush (Dan Quayle was george bush seniors' vice president, so i dont know how it got translated to George W.) Democrats

If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure."

"The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century."

just think it's funny how one person says one thing, and everyone takes it as gospol truth.

(no disrespect for dylflon)

Here are some funny (not as dumb though) Kerry Quotes:

"We are gathered here today to remind you that we are gathered here today." John Kerry 2004

"I go out with my trusty 12-gauge double-barrel, crawl around on my stomach... That's hunting."

"People have asked me what it is like to run for the highest, most powerful office in the land... I have no earthly idea."

Wow, a Bush bashing thread? How very original on this forum. And by the way, I've NEVER seen those quotes before... ever... especially not on this forum. Nope. Accolades on the excellent use of bandwidth.

Sorry if I'm a little dissappointed with the lack of originality and silly masturbatory backslapping going around in here. Not to mention that this thread has been done to death a million times before.

But hey, if it makes you feel better. Do it.

Sorry man, got no more tissues for ya. :(

But honestly, Are there so many threads in this forum that you really have room to complain? who cares what they post and want to talk about, if its giving the forum ANY coversation, its better then nothing. the forum needs it. whether its the best thread in the world or not, forum would run dry. no one forces you to read it.

It does. So back off and let me feel good without you bitching about it.

Seriously Strangler. If you can't just let us do what we want to do on here without bitching about it at every turn, then just find a forum that conforms more to your views. I'm seriously sick of feeling like these forums are suffocated by your lack of tollerance.

I apologize if my views that aren't based on a cartoonish misrepresentation of the President don't conform to what you would like to see. Maybe these forums would be better if everyone just agreed with YOU at all times, not matter the silliness of ignorance of the opinions conveyed. I also like to see that you would like me to either leave of censor myself, how very democratic of you. I guess its true what they say: "Its only censorship if its against a liberal." (Jim Norton from Tought Crowd with Colin Quinn)

As for "tolerance", maybe you should look that word up before using it to tell me not to express myself or to LEAVE. Thats hilariously ironic and hypocritical.

oh lighten up. for gods sake man, its a thread about silly quotes. That doesnt reflect anyones views, its just what it is, silly quotes.
You can be a proud supporter of bush, but still admit the man is funny, he says goofy things. Because people like to joke about what he says, doesnt mean they're anti american bush haters. (some are tho. lol)

just let people talk about what they want to. its not like they're insulting your girlfriend..

If you're implying that my views of the President are based on a "cartoonish misrepresentation" - I think you're mistaken. This thread is meant to be fun. You don't see me jumping down the throats of Republican forum members when somebody jokes about Kerry.

And as for leaving or censoring yourself, that's kind of what this place is all about. Our forums are generally pretty low maintainance in terms of members and the mods don't really need to do a whole lot (save for moving topics and the occasional n00b). So usually stuff just sort of slides on here; and if you're not going to censor yourself, I don't think anybody will.

There is a difference between expressing your views and making people feel stupid for enjoying a laugh.

I do agree with Mariolover about us not jumping down anti-Kerry member's throats. And perhaps Strangler SHOULD lighten up.

Strangler - my english teacher taught me that directly insulting your opponents only hurts your argument and makes you seem childish. It's true in the presidential debates and it's true here too. Others manage to express their views without insulting one another. I'd expect similar behaviour from you. Especially considering that you're a moderator. I quit the political debate game because I'd get too wrapped up in the argument and lose my cool. I'll throw in the odd comment here or there but I've mainly stayed out of it. This doesn't mean I think I'm wrong or that this is a bad place to discuss politics, I just feel that everything I could say has been said and that getting down in the dirt some more won't do anything for me. We know you have strong political convictions, but attacking other members and/or their beliefs doesn't make people want to listen to what you have to say. Remember, as moderators we are to be setting an example. We don't want to set a bad one.

Hey, I don't directly insult anyone, I INDIRECTLY insult EVERYONE. There is a difference ;)

As for overreacting, my issue was more about how this particular thread had been done to death, and I made that opinion known. Now if people have a problem with me expressing my opinions on something, thats tough, and I didn't get irate until Mariolover decided to say that I shouldn't speak my mind.

If you don't like what I have to say, go screw. I'm not going to let things I don't agree with or like pass without saying something or just hop on the old bandwagon.

Knowing my posting record, why would anyone expect any less?

Because your a mod.

Mods need to set an example for the rest of us to follow.

Name one more mod that goes on political tirades expressing opinions left and right?

Lead by example.

So because I'm a mod I shouldn't have and express a political opinion? Thats nice of you.

As for setting an example, I am, just none of you damn liberals seem to be following it. ;)

Being able to edit forums does not make someone an icon to follow by...

Strangler can say whatever the hell he wants, I don't care if he's a mod, he doesn't have to censor his thoughts.

I dont know about you, but he is not my leader, nor does he lead me anywhere or lead me by anything he does.

His 'job' its not to lead the forum. i dont know where people started getting that idea from. His job is just to moderate the discussions and such. Period.

What good would a forum be if people couldnt say thier opinions? My only prob is that instead of saying his opinion, he looks like he's just tryin to find somethin to bitch at for no reason.
almost every topic has been done before. not many are original. i could point out all his that have been done before. (oh look, another halo thread, never seen that before) just as he could mine, or anyone could anyone elses.

As for censorship, maybe he's your leader, but he's not mine nor many other members, he can say what he wants, just as others are free to bitch about his bitchin. :p

*ahem*

I was not the one who brought it back, thank you very much.

As for me being a leader in censorship... did I delete the thread? No. Did I ask anyone to not speak their mind? No, I leave that up to mariolover. All I did was speak my mind, but I guess since my opinions don't jive with many others, I must be trying to censor people. That makes perfect sense.

Now after making myself perfectly clear, I'll be leaving the thread. Continue to talk amonst yourelves.

Whatever dude. I explained my motives just fine. But it doesn't matter; at this point I'll censor you myself. I should have used the ignore function long before.

*Edit* Excellent. I'm not even allowed to do that because he's a mod. Somebody want to come up with a solution?
