is an awesome awesome idea.... what are the odds that nintendo will stick one on their final DS console?

Hopefully the PSP picked up some more developers, they only have like 40 of em, and the DS has apparenty 100.... that seems a little backwards for the two companies doesn't it?

it depends on which went out looking to sign up everyone and which hasnt yet.

i believe by the time the 2 launch sony will have more developers signed on. but never know.

I think the Stylus is better than the analog because you've got a lot more room to move the cursor around; it's just not attached.

yeah, it is more like pc controls... and that is way too cool... if you hover above the screen it can sense it, just like a PDA, and I diggit...

wow. have you ever played a pc game with a pen? a PDA type control is nothing like a PC control.

and i've never seen a PDA that senses when somethings above it, touch screens on them mean just that, you gotta touch em.

touch screen with the pin is a neat gimick, and will be good for option menus on the second screen, but wont be great for actually controlling games. which i think is why they decided to include the actual buttons on it instead of just being like a pda.

Nintendo had to include buttons. They just cant make a handheld without them...at least until VR hits:D

But since this is about the PSP ill just leave my comments to myself since lately people are taking them out of context.

So your saying that PSP is so ****ty that you won't even waste your time commenting on it? FANBOY!!!

;)

Umm... Yeah, it would probably be much better to play Mario 64X4 with a stick than the Dpad... But then how would you close the DS? the analogue stick would be in the way, wouldn't it?

no. they have to do it the way it is on the PSP. cleverly in there where it doesnt look like it would have a lot of movement. but ppl who used it say it has a full range of movment.

if you look at the psp its not sticking out much at all. so the flip down lid on the ds would just have to have an indent there for when it folds down.

very possible to do on the ds.

I hope VR never hits. Do you really want a videogame busness without controllers? I for one dont want to turn into Michael J Fox, in Back to the Future 2, when hes playing that arcade game, and a little kid makes fun of him because he has to use his hands. Thats just no good.

hellllllllll yes i want to do without controllers.

controllers are holding games back. such a VERY limited way to control. theres only so much you can do with a controler pad.

you could always switch to pc and use a keyboard ;)

not sure if your tryin to make that a bad thign or good thing.

PC controls are great. for some games the best. others not so much the best. but they're very flexable in how they control things. they're not as limited.

VR some day will be a huge step up in controls.

i like how the analog stick looks like it wouldn't be able to move a full 360o but yet it's able too...

thats a good thing on SONY's part... good work.

yea. expecially on a hand held. meaning since that stick is down in there like that, it wont easly catch on things like your pocket or snap off. it should be pretty sturdy.

im really surprised the DS doesnt have an analog stick. with a flip down lid it would be so easy to have and keep safe.

I have to disagree with that.

The flip down screen lid would protect a bulging analog stick. Right now with the DS design there's a lot of room on either side of the top screen. That could easily be indented to accomodate the presence of an analog stick.

They could have dual analogs. Perfect position in comparision to the top lid.

Yeah, DS needs an analog stick just because that now there is gonna be 3D games, there needs to be a joystick...hopefully one of those "cosmetic changes" includes it.

What exactly are you disagreeing with? LOL

Null stated it would be easy for the DS to have an analog stick with the flip down lid to keep it cozy...but he is surprised they don't have one...Which is exactly what you said...

So I don't understand your dispute...

That would be cool if DS ends up with an Analog stick, but I honestly dont see it happening. Anyways we know games can work just fine in 3D without one, just look at PS2.

I didnt even know it had a stick. I guess thats that circle under the + pad. Looks odd though. I like zodiac's thumb stick.

but of course PS2 works much better WITH the analog stick.
why on earth would you not want to use it?

True. 3D games dont feel right without an analog stick. PS2 has one but Sony didn't bother making the joystick the primary thing on teh controller.

Actually it is.

It can be argued back and forth but if they were to move it, most playstation users would complain that it was moved to a secondary position.

i used to not like it down there, After playin with it for a few days (been years now) and still using ones like GC controller.
Honestly i like it in PS2's spot MUCH better. get a fuller range of momvent there. and its easier to reach up to the dpad for alternate buttons to do things.

Eh, its just personal preference. I'm just used to playing with joystick on top left not left middle area or however you want to say it:p

The more I think about it, the more I dont think I will be buying this portable. I mean, it is basically a mini ps2 with a screen and a few more gizmos. But, even though I dont own ps2, Id rather use a ps2, just because the big games will come on it anyway, and I can use my 65 inch television, and a normal controller.

true. But then again. DS is just a portable N64.

All any portable system is is just a portable game console.
One might say oh but it has 2 screens. Well think about that for a good while and its going to come back... hey. 2 screens is really just one big screen split in 2. personally. Id much rather have the one big screen with a higher res.

Quite honestly tho. because its like a portable PS2 might be THE reason im thinking about it. i hate portable games. and if the games are more like console games on this. id might actually use it instead of just a paper weight like my GBA.

I think it will actually hurt psp sales.

Im probably not getting DS either, but at least the touch screen and two screens ensures a lot of the games couldnt happen on a console this gen.

Either way, they both arent in my budget, and psp will very likely cost more than ps2, and DS obviously cost more than N64.

You'll probably need a DS for maximum Revolution gameplay...
